Thanks. I just got back from the trip. After ordering and returning several pairs of women's pants, where the pockets were too shallow for practicality, or the rise was too low, or the fabric contained spandex (too hot for the desert where I was going), I was out of time. Following a suggestion on another forum, what I ended up buying in-store was men's rip-stop 100% cotton pants. They had both deep front pockets and cargo pockets. I had to buy them large enough to accommodate a woman's derriere (not large by any means, but larger than a man's), then take them in at the waistband. I can sew and tailor, but even for someone with few skills in this area, it was very easy to do. (I mention this in case someone else needs to take the same route.) I HAD bought 1 pair of women's pants from L. L. Bean that fit (at 3 x the price of the men's pants I bought locally), but only wore them once. They have spandex and were much too hot.

Lars, please, please, please post some of the most amazing projects you share with us! I love fabric and love to sew but know I'm nowhere near the seamstress you are. Your work sounds incredible! Sewing is becoming a lost art and it makes me happy that there are still some who find value in it. So, travel pant update: I was at Costco yesterday and snatched up all the travel pants they had. The two Kirkland brands were almost perfect but not quite there so back they went. I did keep the Eddie Bauer capris (even though I wasn't looking for capris!) in black and went back today for for the navy. They're great! And, that took me to their site yesterday when they just happened to be having a flash sale so I ordered several. I think there's a good chance they may be what I'm looking for. Also stopped at several stores the last few days. Nada. Oh, and the Prana Briana arrived yesterday but boy howdy were the legs ever tight. If the EB pants don't workout, I'll order the Prana Halle. Wow, this is a lot of workl! But, I do think I'll find the right travel pant to fill my needs and be glad I went to the trouble in the end. Again, I appreciate all the recommendations!!

My husband asked me recently do I own a dress. No I don't. After losing all my clothes in the flood I have been rebuilding my wardrobe. I have no need for a dress. I do have a couple of skorts from Costco but I don't know if I have ever worn them. Most of my days are spent indoors at home. I prefer comfortable clothes so leggings, yoga pants and capris, and bike shorts in summer with Tshirts and long tunic tops are my favorites. When I am cold it's sweats and fleece. I bought several items from 32 Degrees during the sale including the down coat and vest. Luckily here in Houston area we don't have a long winter but it has been colder for a few years. I found some pants for my husband on Amazon they are ripstop have a lot of pockets and fit beautifully. He loves them I bought every color and it's become his every day pants. He gets asked about them often. The brand is Clothin. While dealing with the broken leg and boot I have been wearing spandex capris.

Kath, I just looked. I ordered the slim straight leg which doesn't have pockets. They have one which is fleece lined with pockets but is too hot for Florida. I always order straight leg or slim because my legs are thin and regular fits are just too wide in the thighs. I have one pair I kept but I rarely wear them because the leg is just too wide. I have issues buying pants because I'm thin and have gotten shorter as I've aged so now order only petite and straight leg or slim. Jane
