Anyone know anything about Sandalus or Purple Dunas granite?

The cabinets and floor are already installed and now I’m
being pressured to pick a granite and I can’t decide!

In our old house, we have Tan Brown. Pretty basic, but I like it. The fabricator told us not to seal it and to
use Windex with vinegar to clean it (a reputable, MIA accredited
fabricator). Ten years later, it looks
perfect. I’m a baker and work with
fondant, so I regularly have Crisco spread on the counter. I have dripped food coloring without
incident. I love not having to worry about
it.

In our new house, DH wants something more showy. We’re looking at Sandalus, Purple Dunas, and
a 3rd choice, Typhoon Bordeaux. Money is a concern, but since this is our
forever home, we’re prepared to splurge.
The problem is finding any information about Sandalus and Purple
Dunas. When I ask questions at the stone
yard, to the designer, and to the fabricator, they all look at me like I’m
nuts. They tell me that all granite must
be sealed and any messes should be cleaned up immediately, so there shouldn’t
be any problem.

The problem is that I don’t want to spend a small fortune on
a counter top only to have etching and/or stains! My aunt has a lovely granite countertop that
has grease stains around the stove top.
I don’t want that.

I’ve asked for samples to test, but they said no. From their perspective, I understand since
the Sandalus and Purple Dunas are pretty pricey. But from my perspective, I should be able to
know what I’m getting, right?

Any suggestions?
