Comments (4)Funny, I posted again after the first 2 replies, but it looks like my post disappeared. OddÂIÂll repost. Thanks! Now I know what I am looking for. They ARE a bullet catch. The Rockler one linked is the right style. On my furniture the cylinder is installed on the inside floor of the cabinet, and has literally dropped out. With any luck I will just be able to slide a new one in, and plug up the hole from the bottom. What an ingenious design this is. Glad to know they are still being made. Comments (6)I just bought some for a glass topped table that we moved with us and the little silicon buttons didn't make it. Comments (9)Hey great work! Your butler stairs look like a mirror of mine. The walls and ceiling in mine are fine, but the stairs are very scuffed up and need some serious refinishing. And I need lighting! Good luck getting the stairs in a fully usable state again - you will LOVE them. We recently bought our house, a pretty much unadulterated Victorian with original layout, and my husband and dad were initially all into tearing the butler stairs out to have more space for the kitchen and bathroom, but then we moved in and starting living in the house, and it turns out we use the butler stairs WAY more frequently than the grand main stairs....See More1970s home: what is this button?
Comments (5)Update! We discovered the button also fed downstairs to this 1976 mode security system. Assuming the button was a “panic button” of sorts. There was wiring feeding to a second button, but we haven’t found it yet....See MoreRudebekia
