My aloe Vera plant needs some help. Looking for advice.
Comments (15)I understand your being hesitant to repot the plants again so soon after the first repot. I was in the same situation. Folks here told me that I could leave my plant in the less than optimum soil and hope for the best or get them into soil where it will thrive asap. I went for the second repot and my plant is doing great. I'm currently in SW Florida, zone 10A, but I grew up in zone 6 in Portsmouth, OH. While regular potting soil works so-so in Ohio, and my mother still uses it, I think you may do better with at least a cactus and succulent soil. You still need to mix at least 50/50 perlite or pumice with the soil. Every succulent that I used potting soil on when I lived in Toledo died from rot. I didn't think I was overwatering, but the plants did. I think the soil was a big factor. Hopefully the sun will be shining for you soon! It will lift your spirits and help your plants thrive....See MoreMy aloe vera plant is a mess. Please help
Comments (2)Sarah I never grew Aloe vera, but have few aloes. Look at this thread: -beheading plants - showing different aloe being beheaded, and I think that same could work for your plant. There are many other/different succulents shown in same thread. I am posting this also to bring your thread up, so someone with A. vera experience may see it and respond....See MoreI’m new and need help keeping my Aloe Vera alive
Comments (2)Pls don't be fooled into buying all sorts of stuff that you don't need. A clay pot, a bag of Perlite to amend your soil which isn't fast draining enough & that's it, along w/ appropriate care as suggested above (mix it 50/50, equal parts of each soil & Perlite). YouTube has lots of good & bad info. Pls. trust sites that have something like .edu, plant or biology in their addies, that would indicate more accredited, plant-knowledgeable folks, not folks growing plants as trends or decor. That spot is way too dark for it, if you're growing it there, rather than just taking the pic, needs to be at a window at least....See MoreHelp! I think I killed my aloe Vera
Comments (2)I had similar accident few yrs back. Few succs got sprayed - they were quite 'spotted', but didn't die. I do not have Aloe vera. It took a while for all the leaves to get replaced by new ones...spots didn't disappear. I guess it all depends on what the sprays was (ingredients), and plants sensitivity. Your aloe looks quite red, maybe you should keep it in dappled shade for a while. Many plants could be more photosensitive if sprayed as Kara suggested. It is suggested to keep them out of sunlight while using any spray treatment - same would apply here......See More- 7 years ago
