Microwave / Toaster combo under counter?

In order of priority, I'm looking for an appliance that can:

fit in a 24" wide space under the counter, in an island
has a drop down door or pull out drawer
Can defrost something, quickly heat (fast popcorn) like a microwave
Can toast bread or bake

The closest I could find was this Bosch HMC54151UC which seems to do microwave and oven stuff, and the user manual contains a reference to toasting, but I'm not sure it can really toast bread or what type of heating element it uses.

I looked and looked for such and what i found was expensive and had marginal reviews. I gave up and gave in to the idea I needed a small microwave and a small toaster oven. I found the microwave at Best Buy - it's an LG and was $99 and works great and is quite unobtrusive up against the cabinet for the refrigerator. I bought the smallest Breville toaster oven. Expensive? Oh yes! But it's the first toaster oven I've had 52 years that actually makes great toast and nicely toasted english muffins!

I recently did a big search for the same as I didn't want an over the range microwave and just went with a microwave cubby. If you're looking for a very small one (under a cubic foot) I couldn't find any really attractive stainless ones in that size. Instead there are some with just stainless trim which I ended up going for like the Sharp R216LS.

jaxo - I was looking for the same exact thing, and based on my research, I couldn't really find a mw that would also work as a toaster. I think some convection/mw combos are OK for baking, but toast is another matter. The more functions you pack into a mw, the more likely it will break down. I ended up with a Breville smart oven and a regular Sharp mw. I know that's not what you want to hear, with space being at a premium, but that's my experience. Perhaps someone else will chime in with a success story of a toaster/mw, but I would recommend a small toaster somewhere, space permitting.

We rebuilt our existing pantry to include a space for our microwave. It's just a shallow closet (about 18-inches deep), not walk-in. We pulled out the old pantry and drywall above to create a space that went nearly to the 9-foot ceiling. We replaced the original door (a standard 36-inch-wide, 7-foot-tall door) with three sets of double doors. Below the second set of doors -- just slightly lower than counter height -- we have an open shelf: that's where the micrrowave is. It's a bit out of the main traffic path of the kitchen but only a few steps away from the main activity zones. We debated putting the MW behind some kind of doors (either swing up or down) but decided we use it often enough -- probably 3-4 times a day, mostly for reheating -- that having to open doors each time would be irritating. So far I'm loving not having the MW on the counter (where it was before). And access and usability have not been a problem.

If you are set on having an under counter microwave oven.... I have a combi oven/microwave by Miele. (speed oven) The touch pad is on the top and the oven door pulls down. It is designed to be installed under counter as an option. They cost slightly more than a microwave drawer and have way more options than a drawer. They are usually 240V oven that can be used as a full second oven. Mine has a broiler. I bake and roast in these. These are very common in Europe. Many European kitchens will have just one oven: a speed oven... My second home has a standard American type Microwave oven installed under counter. (I think Sharp) The touch pad is to one side and the door swings open. I would say that having the control pad on the top is easier. It has a trim kit. Even so, I use it just fine. Again, if you are considering a drawer, spend a little more and get a speed oven instead.

sharp makes the microwave drawer and they fit in a 24 inch space. that's the way to go for under counter space. The toasteroven with its flexibility to toast, grill, broil ,bake, gets hot and you need space around and to be able to retrieve things quickly from it.....so stick to countertop. I would plan for two appliances....microwave and countertop toaster oven.

That Bosch you show was made by Sharp. Don't waste your money on just getting the name on it. Go with the same one by Sharp. As herb said, you really need 2 appliances.
