Microwave / Toaster combo under counter?

In order of priority, I'm looking for an appliance that can:

fit in a 24" wide space under the counter, in an island
has a drop down door or pull out drawer
Can defrost something, quickly heat (fast popcorn) like a microwave
Can toast bread or bake

The closest I could find was this Bosch HMC54151UC which seems to do microwave and oven stuff, and the user manual contains a reference to toasting, but I'm not sure it can really toast bread or what type of heating element it uses.

I looked and looked for such and what i found was expensive and had marginal reviews. I gave up and gave in to the idea I needed a small microwave and a small toaster oven. I found the microwave at Best Buy - it's an LG and was $99 and works great and is quite unobtrusive up against the cabinet for the refrigerator. I bought the smallest Breville toaster oven. Expensive? Oh yes! But it's the first toaster oven I've had 52 years that actually makes great toast and nicely toasted english muffins!

I recently did a big search for the same as I didn't want an over the range microwave and just went with a microwave cubby. If you're looking for a very small one (under a cubic foot) I couldn't find any really attractive stainless ones in that size. Instead there are some with just stainless trim which I ended up going for like the Sharp R216LS.

jaxo - I was looking for the same exact thing, and based on my research, I couldn't really find a mw that would also work as a toaster. I think some convection/mw combos are OK for baking, but toast is another matter. The more functions you pack into a mw, the more likely it will break down. I ended up with a Breville smart oven and a regular Sharp mw. I know that's not what you want to hear, with space being at a premium, but that's my experience. Perhaps someone else will chime in with a success story of a toaster/mw, but I would recommend a small toaster somewhere, space permitting.

We have both an undercounter microwave and a beverage fridge. I bend down a little for the m/w controls, but 99% of the time I'm using the same buttons - open/close, stop/pause and the numbers to set time - I know their location now, so I just knuckle the panel and I'm set. The beverage fridge, I do have to go into a full deep-knee bend to grab things, but it's an alcohol-only fridge, and I use it a lot less than if it had, say, bottled water or if I stored juice/soda for children in it. BTW, we ended up with a beverage fridge instead of wine fridge because Spouse is a big beer drinker, and most of the wine-fridge racks had slats that were too widely spaced to hold bottles of beer. Even 25-oz bottles of many microbrews and imports are skinnier than wine bottles, and slipped right through the slats when we tested empties at the appliance store. We have the obligatory few bottles of wine on the slats, removed one glass shelf so as to accommodate taller beer bottles, and the fridge works fine for our needs.

It's possible that the convection microwave would do it, especially if it's a built-in, 240V, but if your current toaster oven is as perfect for your current needs as it sounds, I'd keep it so long as it's functional. I have some doubts about the 120V convection MWs--I've only used them at others' houses but they seem inadequate. You can decide after you have the new kitchen if you prefer another appliance for your toaster oven uses. I'd guess that the smaller range oven would be a better toaster oven alternative, but I can't guess about heating times, etc. A good range oven should heat evenly. It may not, but it should.

sharp makes the microwave drawer and they fit in a 24 inch space. that's the way to go for under counter space. The toasteroven with its flexibility to toast, grill, broil ,bake, gets hot and you need space around and to be able to retrieve things quickly from it.....so stick to countertop. I would plan for two appliances....microwave and countertop toaster oven.

That Bosch you show was made by Sharp. Don't waste your money on just getting the name on it. Go with the same one by Sharp. As herb said, you really need 2 appliances.
