Help ID tree and determine if it's dying
Comments (8)Curious could this tree could have "crown gall". We lost a shrub to this. Noticed it this past spring when working in the yard. It is know to leave growths in it's wake. ? So not saying that is the issue...but...it's what came to my mind when poster described growths....See MoreHelp me ID this succulent please? Also need some help with it
Comments (1)I think it needs a good soaking. It is trying to conserve moisture and is dropping old leaves. If you are unsure, stick a long toothpick or wooden kebab skewer deep into the soil and leave it overnight. Pull it out tomorrow, and if it doesn't feel dampish, you should water. It is possible your soil is compacted into a hard mass which water cannot soak into. When you water, watch if the water comes out the drainage holes immediately or if it actually soaks into the soil. If it pours out immediately, immerse the whole pot in a deep tray of water and let it soak for a few hours. Then use the wooden skewer to determine when it needs to be watered again. The purple colour is likely from the high light levels. happy growing! Breton...See MoreDying cactus and succulent!! Need help IDing them to fix them up
Comments (13)You could add both - I know Lena said it is not necessary (and it isn't an absolute must), but anything that will make the mix more porous is a plus. Especially if you are heavy waterer or if your plants are outdoors where it rains more often. I don't remember if you mentioned your general location (it is good to indicate by your name - as you can see most ppl do); I am in Ontario, Canada and have to bring plants inside for the winter but keep them all outdoors otherwise. All my succulents are in a mix of grit+perlite+turface and have been for almost 4 years now....See MoreID please! Also, growing and dying at the same time???
Comments (4)The soil is from the shop I bought it at, which sells only succulents, so I assumed it was okay, and it seemed to be revived after repotting. The pot does not have a hole, but the bottom has a layer of gravel/rock. I assumed it was overwatering when the leaves became soggy, so I let it dry out for quite awhile. Then, it continued to die, so I repotted and watered, which is when it seemed to come back to life. Now, it is growing from the center, but also has crispy edges of the leaves at the top. Needless to say, I am out of ideas....See Moresilvergravity79
