Sorry, guess it didn't upload correctly. Not sure why, it shows up fine in the preview and worked fine in the test forum. Let me try again.

Thanks, I did some research yesterday and was hoping that they were cedar waxwings, I never get anything in my yard but blujays, cardinals, starlings, blackbirds, and house sparrows, so I was excited to have a different species! LOL, i don't mind if anyone looks at my photobucket pics, they are probably all pretty boring anyway, lol. THanks! I am going to try to attract some more cedar waxwings to my yard, but i think they are only in my area during winter, if i remember correctly, thanks again.

I have what looks very much like the same thing. I spent some time with a family in Barcelona back in the 60's. They gave me this as a gift when I left. I can only tell you what it was used for when it was given to me. During the last evening and the last meal my host brought it out with red wine in it. He had pushed a round tooth pick in the small hole. He then lifted the vase above his head and poured the wine in a very small stream onto his forehead and made it run down the side of his face into his mouth. He then presented it to me to try. After many tries and getting red wine all over my shirt I did it also. Not sure if that is all they are used for. I never did ask. Just a wonderful memory that will last forever.

I do not see a definite cigarette/cigar holder, however, in the second photo above, the green leaf near the flower does have a scallop that might hold a cigarette. This vessel is right sized for a single smoker of cigarettes. The other possible use for this vessel is a blossom bowl where a flower blossom is floated on water.
