We have had no issues like yours with the Oxo. Ours works great.

Sas is your lettuce dry when you're done? Hmm..

I have the Oxo also and very rare issues. I think it's one very soft green from my garden in Spring. If I have issue I toss a paper towel in with the greens, I rip it in half to cover. I think catches excess moisture.

I have an old OXO and follow same procedures as sas...the lettuce is not bone dry but definitely much better than any other method I've tried, and doesn't water down dressing or anything.

OXO here as well and I do the double spin, too with no issues. As HB said, lettuce is not bone dry but dry enough to not water dressings. Sounds as if you have a lemon spinner! Or maybe try the double spin.

Bone dry? No way. But a lot less water which makes my greens amenable to coating with dressing.

Usually takes 2 spins with emptying in between.

Don't give up yet!

Are you maybe filling it with too much of the greens at one time?

I really like my OXO too. I'll use it sometimes for fruit like grapes also.

I bought an OXO salad spinner based on the good reviews. I don't like it either. It doesn't dry the lettuce well enough for me and I spin it multiple times and empty the water out.

I've had an OXO for probably 15 years. Best spinner ever! I do 2 - 3 spins for every load. It is important to not overload.

Love my OXO. The "brake" is a bit spongy, but other than that the spinner is excellent. (I think they make a few different styles. Mine is the Good Grips version.)

FWIW, I have an old Copco spinner that is larger than those OXO ones & uses a hand crank, rather than the pump button thingy. Had it for many years & it still works great.

I have the OXO and love it. If I overfill it or the leaves are too big, the greens in the middle don't dry. With a normal load I usually spin two or three times with emptying in-between, and even tossing the greens a bit to let the middle leaves shed their water on the next spin.

The greens aren't bone dry, but it's much easier than using a towel.

I guess I'm old school, LOL. I core my lettuce, wash and spread it open in a drainer.

I'm thinking I may have overloaded it. There's breathing room at the top but it's pretty full. The towel idea is good. I tried a cheapy spinner years back that didn't work well. I remember thinking I wasn't going to bother if I still had to dry the leaves anyhow.

Does everyone here store the lettuce in the spinner as recommend?

I vacuum seal my lettuce in serving size mason jars. The romaine can last up to 10 days.
