Comments (14)Jasdip, my daughter is a classically trained dancer and attended the local high school of the arts. Once she grew out of her Pointe ballerina body, she went into Lyrical, Modern and Commercial dance. While at college in NYC, she worked for the guy who taught Al Pacino to dance the tango in the film Scent of a Woman. He took her under his wing and taught her the Argentine Tango. To this day, it is still her favorite dance. I don't have many photos of her dancing but did find one taken a couple years ago. This is DD at the 3rd Street Promenade in Santa Monica, CA doing the tango. Jodi-...See MoreI'll Show You Mine if You Show Me Yours Mon Jan 04

Comments (8)An Airglow Fan from Lake to Sky Image Credit & Copyright: Dave Lane; Rollover Annotation: Judy Schmidt Explanation: Why would the sky look like a giant fan? Airglow. The featured intermittent green glow appeared to rise from a lake through the arch of our Milky Way Galaxy, as captured last summer next toBryce Canyon in Utah, USA. The unusual pattern was created by atmospheric gravity waves, ripples of alternating air pressure that can grow with height as the air thins, in this case about 90 kilometers up. Unlike auroras powered by collisions with energetic charged particles and seen at high latitudes, airglow is due to chemiluminescence, the production of light in a chemical reaction. More typically seen near the horizon, airglow keeps the night sky from ever being completely dark....See MoreI'll Show You Mine if You Show Me Yours Wed Jan 18
Comments (18)I came home tonight to feed the horses, saw they needed water, so I turned it on, went and fed the cat and returned after a couple of minutes to check the water. There were three raccoons in the paddock grabbing up each piece of grain that the horse dropped. They scrambled up a tree and were staring down at me. I got the camera, and when I came back out, two had fled, but one was still there. When the water trough was filled, I turned off the water, went in the house, and heard a noise from where the cat's bowl is. It was this guy: The flash of the camera scared him off, but 10 minutes later I heard noises again. I assumed it was the opossum again but this time it was a jumbo sized raccoon, probably heavier than all three from the paddock put together....See More- 9 years ago
