Hosta I 2016
Comments (27)Kathy, I was thrilled to see that you have Iris Frazier! I first saw this hosta in someone's garden while touring hosta gardens on YouTube several years ago. It was a mature size and absolutely exquisite. I fell in love instantly!! It really commands attention with its upright growth as well as its beauty....and yours is a lovely example. After staring at your photo my eyes popped when I saw the name following. Can't wait to see it later on this year! I do hope you take a few progression pics of this one throughout this growing season. I'll be looking for one too in the meantime. ;-) Inspire Greatness is definitely a must-have hosta - not only for its beauty but for its paying forward ----> proceeds towards supporting Special Olympics Athletes. Mbug, yours would make a great poster child for this hosta....See MoreHosta N 2016
Comments (40)hosta_maker - I hope you will keep us updated on its progress. It would be really interesting to see if it retained the growth pattern of 'Daybreak'. Thanks irawon. G. p. 'Samobor' will grow equally well in sun (with moist soil) and shade. The flowering stems grow on separate stems from the mound of foliage so if you cut them early you could avoid seeding or indeed keep them from flowering at all. The flowers are a very nice bonus though to that fabulous foliage....See MoreHosta Noid 2016
Comments (34)Thanks Jo for the picture of the hosta with droplets! When I saw your photo of the gold NOID, it reminded me of my Birchwood Parky's Gold which was stolen in 2013. I only had it one year and it was in a pot. So I found the picture of my plant and put it side by side with yours. I got it as a two eyed plant in 2012 and it was a fourteen eyed plant the next year. A fast grower. I think your photo was taken in more sun? But I am probably completely wrong about this!...See MoreHosta Q 2016
Comments (53)Loved the plants, flowers, shrubs, birds and animal photos! Only one Q (x2) for me. Queen of the Seas in a pot and and Queen of the Seas in the ground Here's my budgie. She loves this phone! Her cage is located in the next room. If she hears anyone picking up the phone, well there she comes! She loves to be with me. When I am out in the back garden, she sits in her bird playground which is located by the kitchen window and watches me. At the end of the summer I befriended a squirrel. She took an unshelled walnut right from my hand. The whole family really enjoyed doing this. We limited it to one a day. Once she even climbed up my back! But I still refused to give her another. Sometimes she would come to our kitchen window and look for us. But now we haven't seen her since December. This weekend we saw something that we had never seen before in our backyard after living in the same house for 30 years. A Red Tailed Hawk eating a squirrel! The hawk stayed on the fence eating the squirrel for the entire time! I hope that wasn't what happened to "our" squirrel!...See More- 7 years ago
