Looks good. Looks like there is room to get around it fine.

I think it would be tight if people had reason to go all the way past it, but it doesn't seem as if people would need to.

My only concern with the size would be if you had a gathering and the people seated closest to the fireplace might have a hard time passing in front of the people seated closer to the camera. Only you can tell if that would be a problem. That said, if you decide it's a bit too wide (length seems fine) it does look like a design that your friend could fairly easily make a bit narrower by removing one or two boards and cutting down the side x's.

Visually it doesn't look too big or tall. Only you would know if it works functionally. Nice room.

Did your friend make it for free? If so, I would leave it as it is; if you paid for it, then you could cut down the side X's as Oly recommended, and this would also reduce the height a bit. I agree that ideally, one or two boards should be removed. It's a very nice table, by the way!

I think it's perfect! I have a coffee table that's a little taller than I thought I would like, but now I can't imagine going back to a shorter table. I think you're going to love this, and yes - what a wonderful gift to receive!

It looks good and I like that height. Really low coffee tables have been "in" for a while and I hate them. I've been looking for a taller coffee table and they are very hard to find.
