If you only had $100.00 to spend on roses this year.
Comments (24)What I'm currently buying with my garden money, real and imaginary, is stone dust. After years of doing other things, last fall I finally started laying the dry-stone patio in the middle of one of the gardens. The area underneath Darlow's Enigma is done, so I don't have to worry about measuring and weeding that edge any more. The big problem is I'm not sure I've got enough stone for the entire thing, and don't know where or how to get more. The stone so far has come from the back garden, near Applejack, but the easy stone is pretty much done. There are a couple more pieces I'd very much like to get out before backfilling the whole thing, but then a very long, intricate project will finally be getting done....See MoreHelp me spend my money~ $10k for new kitchen
Comments (4)I'm also happy with my Elux Wavetouch double wall oven, for 3 years now. Watch for rebates, I received some percentage back on mine. I have a Miele Dishwasher that I also love, found a discontinued model in a clearance room for half price. (!!) with full warranty. It really is all that and a cupcake, so what you read is pretty much true. I really like the third rack on top for silverware and utensils. My cooktop is a Miele induction, so I can't help you there, other than to say that it totally rocks and I love it. :-) Seriously, though, if you're looking at the Electrolux, again, watch for rebates. I also have an Electrolux front loader set, and for the last year and a half it's worked very well for me. They also make the Frigidaires, I've heard, they're just a bit smaller. I'll let others chime in on hoods--lots of discussion about those here, and with 6 gas burners you'll have some requirements to meet. Mine is a 42 inch, but it's not all that quiet, though I like the way it looks and works. Best of luck to you! Have fun. Cj...See MoreLR pics--help me spend $ trying to get the process going in my he
Comments (7)I had to go back to see your other photos before making any suggestions, but upon doing so, would suggest several changes in furniture placement. You essentially have three walkways in that room, one to your bedroom, one to the kitchen, and one to the hallway for the other bedrooms. Upholstered furniture placement should be so that people can access each of these areas without having to walk in front of a chair or couch every time they pass. With that in mind, I would suggest that you move the large entertainment center to the opposite wall, where the couch and bookcase are currently placed. Then I would float a couch in the room, bringing it at least 4 feet away from any wall, with a console table behind it, either directly facing the ET center, or directly facing the fireplace. Then you could float the leather chair, and another comfortable chair, on each side of the fireplace if the couch were facing the fireplace. If you float the couch directly opposite the ET center, you could float the chairs on the hallway side, with a new table in between them. If you keep the bookcase, it could go on the wall leading to the bedroom hallway. I would put the large picture presently behind the couch over the mantle. A small sectional would be ideal floating in this room, too, keeping all paths to the master bedroom, kitchen and bedroom hallway clear. If you choose not to move the entertainment center from it's present position, I would suggest that you at least float your couch forward by three or four feet, with a walkway behind it, so you would have clear access between bedroom and bedroom hallway....See MoreHelp me identify this worm on my DA roses!
Comments (3)For the rose slugs, pick and squish while you wait for the good predator bugs to show up and gobble them down. They usually come a couple weeks after the rose slugs appear--unless you have been spraying insecticides in the past and therefore killed off most of the "good guys" also. In which case, pick and squish. As for the other pics, I don't really know, but I do know that in my garden, some of those things are passing problems, so I don't worry a lot about some of them. However, it does help to dead-head the blooms that have finished blooming--makes the whole plant look neater. Kate...See Moreteka2rjleffel
