Cold weather brings out the color!
Comments (9)Well, thank you! Do you mean the one with thick red margins, or the one with thin red margins? Since they both seem to be near the center. At 12 o'clock we have Aeonium hawarthia 'Pin Wheels'. Thin red margins. One o'clock a plant we ID'd tentatively, but I would have to look for the id. The bell like blooms have a blue edge, a most spectacular plant! 2 & 3 are Sempervivens of some kind. 4, 4:30 is a Graptoveria of some type, perhaps a Graptopetalum. The center plant is Echeveria 'Red Edge', a fine specimen. This one is about 4 years, maybe 5 in this pot. Thick red margins. The next at 6 straight down is Sempervivens arachnoidea (?sp) And the 10 o'clock position is Crassula 'Morgans Pink' as far as I know. It blooms about 3 times a year, and no, I have no conclusive ID to say it is MP. There are a couple of crassulas tucked up under, but they hardly can be seen. Let me know if there is a question about the specific plant you were asking about....See MoreChristmas Pillow
Comments (7)For the flower: http://www.planetjune.com/blog/free-crochet-patterns/poinsettia/ I just typed up the instructions for the basic pillow, double crochet square and somehow my message got rejected due to something wrong with the link or URL. When I went to correct it IT ALL WENT AWAY. Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr. If you need that, I'll do it again. -Babka...See MoreWhich hood liner should I buy for Lacanche Saulieu?
Comments (5)Baffle assemblies in most hoods can be removed and cleaned in a dishwasher, but one still has to reach up inside and clean the interior parts of the hood if one wants to be thorough. Successful cooking effluent capture requires the hood aperture to extend beyond the extent of the hot cooking surfaces by an amount sufficient to intercept most of the expanding plume as it rises; images in Lecanche's web site suggest that they are unaware of this, or are hoping that the cabinets on each side are sufficient for constraining the expansion rate of the plumes. This will only work with the back burners, or back half of a griddle. Successful plume containment requires that the the air velocity at the baffles be high enough for the velocity of the rising effluent, and this is high with gas cooking, even when the pan is only medium hot. I would aim for an actual air flow capability of 90 CFM/sq.foot of hood aperture area. Rated CFM has to be higher because it is measured at zero static differential pressure. Between hood transitions, duct losses, and MUA losses, some multiplier up to 1.5X should be used to get from actual CFM to rated CFM. kas...See MoreBlessing Star from Rinoa is blooming :)
