Wool mattress toppers?
Comments (0)Does anyone have experience with wool mattress toppers? We have a 6 mo. old bed, which is the first I've had in 10 years that I don't wake up with back pain. It's a "natural" mattress with wool, cotton and latex, and springs on an adjustable slat system. I love the bed, however, wake up with soreness on my shoulders- pressure points (I sleep on my side). I've tried a latex topper and didn't like the feel, can't stand memory foam. A cheap "eggcrate" polyurathane foam has helped, but it's wearing out and I want to replace with something more natural. Thinking about a wool mattress topper. Does anyone have experience with one for relieving pressure points on a firm bed? Thanks. Barbara...See MoreMemory foam topper - zones?
Comments (6)I bought ours several years ago and we love it! I then went on to buy one for our guest room bed and one for our daughter's bed. When DS was in grad school, we bought him one for that bed. Two years ago, I sent one to my parents for their Florida home and they tell me that they've never slept better than they do on this topper. They went out and bought one for their Michigan place, as they said they couldn't sleep without one anymore (LOL!). All have the different comfort body zones. The only suggestion I can give you is to buy the 2" or 3" toppers and not the thicker ones. When I was looking for mine, several people on a decorating forum like this told that they'd purchased the thicker ones and none of their fitted sheets would fit over them. All of the ones we now have are 2 1/2" or 3" and the fitted sheets work fine with them. Lynn...See MoreISO: European style (?) *soft* topper + supportive mattress
Comments (16)Chispa, you are awesome! Here are the mattress topper descriptions: "LUXURY The Luxury is a stretched surface, adaptable top mattress with a soft cottonfilled summer side, a wool-filled winter side and a central section containing Talalay latex. Practical and comfortable all year round. Height: 9 cm (3.5â³). PREMIUM Top mattress Premium boasts a talalay latex core with a fibre filling. Comes with a washable, overlap-stitched stretch fabric with embroidered logo. A beautifully soft, highly adaptable top mattress featuring an eye-catching design. Height: 7 cm (2.8â³). PRESTIGE Prestige is a highly adaptable model filled with natural latex, and includes a removable stretch material cover, machine washable at 60ðC (140F). Height: 5 cm (2â³)." Although, seriously pricey. A commenter on Remodelista wrote: "FYI to other Remodelista readers, these beds start at $14,000 and go up to about $25,000. They actually cost even more than Hastens ($10-20k) or Duxiana ($6-15k). For these prices they better be stuffed with hair from unicorn tails." LOL. But knowing what the toppers are made of is useful. Edited to add: unicorn tail hair-stuffed beds are unfortunately not in the budget. Comments (10)I had the same problem with one of my mattresses. I just bought two foam toppers at Walmart (very inexpensive), topped that with a comforter and then put a padded mattress cover on top of that. It's very firm but soft. I gave up my Tempurpedic which was causing me to ache all over for this bed....See Moreravencajun Zone 8b TX
