Help with curb appeal/facade on an ugly exterior!
Comments (4)It's elevated above the road and a massive concrete driveway funnels the view into the turret and the stairs that are perfect for Inigo and the six-fingered man to have their epic fight. Your best bet would be to cut 1/3 to 1/2 off the driveway's right side and plant some tall trees. Otherwise if you love the interior and the location, just live with the exterior and do some over the top decorating for Halloween....See MoreI need help changing my exterior facade and brick color!
Comments (12)Here's a Georgian new build which is a bit similar to yours. As you can see, it's the classic Georgian red brick color too. Don't change it. It also has a front gable (what you call the triangular thing on the roof). I wouldn't change it either. Very expensive to do so since you are basically rebuilding the roof, and it won't improve the appearance of the house. You see there are no shutters either - your house has no room for shutters on some of the windows. The trim is cream vs white which you may consider if you are painting anyway, but I wouldn't go to the trouble if your trim is in good shape. Have a look at the railings. Black vs your white ones, and they go up the side. Metal looks best. That's the only change I'd make if you don't like yours. Or just paint yours black so they do not stand out so much. However, if you put side railings then the pots have to go somewhere else because someone using the railing needs to be able to hold the railing all the way up the stairs and not be stopped by the pots at the top of the stairs. You have a beautiful home....See MoreExterior paint 1970's stone facade accent and garage questions
Comments (5)Yes. Maybe medium gray on the roof. As for the paint, all the houses on my street that have been repainted recently are various shades of grey. I was hoping to not be exactly like everyone else which is why the shade of blue. We are in the western half of Washington state so generally mild weather with clouds but we don't have AC so maybe not such a dark roof. I agree gray would be the better choice though. (Although smoky summers might mean we need to consider getting AC.)...See MoreExterior work to cover faux Tudor facade of older house
Comments (2)That was a really unfortunate addition to the style of the house. I don't have experience with stucco, but I'd paint along with the siding, make it disappear if it can't be removed. I think I'd like to see that house approx same color both levels too, somehow that shade white looks stark to me with the roof and the brick. Is there a color in the brick your niece would be happy with for her upper level........See MoreUser
