24" or 30" Kohler Bancroft Pedestal?
Here is the current sink. Sadly, the cast iron is very rusted so needs replacing. I've been looking for something with a similar look and Kohler Bancroft is closest I've found. The current sink is 24 inches with a towel rack on the side adding 2 inches so 26 total. The space from the cabinets on the left to the edge of the door trim is 62 inches.

This is the 24 inch model. I really dislike the faucet, but I think beyond that, it looks a lot less massive than the existing sink, so thinking that going with 30 inches will fill the space better. I also like having some space on the side for toiletries when I'm using them. There is plenty of storage in the cabinets, so I don't feel a need for a vanity.
Any concern that the 30 will look too big?

Comments (7)I changed from a 24" vanity to a 26" pedestal. (To be honest, I measured so long prior to ordering, I didn't realize I was ordering a larger sink. Oops.) You want to make certain you meet code with the distance between the sink and the toilet. I believe 30" is the building code (though someone with actual professional experience is welcome to correct me). Other than that, you should take into consideration the location of your plumbing (and whether you can move it), how close to the wall you want your sink, and whether your walls are square. I ended up moving my plumbing slightly in order to meet the specifications of my pedestal sink. Because a pedestal sink exposes more of the wall underneath, having the plumbing neatly tucked behind the pedestal (as much as possible) is nice. I also chose to have a mostly 1" gap between the wall and the sink because the wall is not square. This was a powder room (can't recall the dimensions off hand) and I used 16x16 set on the square. In my opinion, larger tiles (12x12+) can add a feeling of spaciousness. But, I also like small mosaic-style tiles. It's really just a personal preference. It's definitely not the same as cast iron, which we have now, but it combines the depth that we want with a very traditional look so we will probably go with that....See MoreWhat size pedestal sink?
Comments (5)I have a nice Kohler pedestal sink that is 24" wide on the same wall as my toilet in our Master Bath (!)- wall is 5' 3"- the bathtub is on the other side of the toilet (sink:toilet:tub) but the sink/toilet portion is 5'3" I think it would be a little tight with 30" (6 more inches) but maybe it can be a little more snug since it's a powder room...See MorePedestal sink size

The 30" wouldn't look too big.
The 27" Toto Promenade would be another good choice. It has a larger basin than the Bancroft--20 1/8 x 13 1/4" vs. 17 1/8 x 13 15/16". Toto is the top choice for toilets so their vitreous china should be as good as Kohler's.
