Who cares what Pantone thinks?

Nope, not gonna repaint my garden (leaves and all) with Pantone's idea of greenery.

Why not? Don't you think your plant leaves are due for a refresh? :-)

While I like some greens in the house as a paint color - a very restful color - I would not pick this one!! Too much yellow in it - looks a bit bilious IMO. Sage, celery, celadon, maybe an occasional use of forest green, but this is just not right!!

What looks good growing in a garden does not always translate well to an interior wall :-)

I painted the kitchen in my previous house a bright green - similar to the photo, and I LOVED IT! It was quite crisp with bright white ceiling and mouldings, and I found it cheerful. It's so individual, though -- I can't stand yellow walls, yet multitudes of people sure do love their shades of yellow.

I was enlightened to read that the Benjamin Moore's colour pick for 2017 is "Shadow", described by a home decorator in the (Toronto) Star as a "deep and dusky eggplant".

Followed that one up (a bit) too: 'Dusky' is a hybrid hardy eggplant cultivar.

Whatever the case, we've got people selling paint, their decorating services, vegetable seeds and a newspaper.

Still if a new and fashionable paint job were to sell my house, I'd be all for it (that is, as long I was just about to move).

I love that colour - outdoors - it is the colour of April/May in my part of the world. I also love yellow - primrose yellow. Maybe it is a function of growing up in my climate where those two colours mean Spring.

Yep, I could live with that...then again, I already have a purple and green kitchen, an orange and green hall and landing...and am about to repaint the horsebox a nice shade of parsley. If I lived in a Georgian farmhouse or a Victorian terrace, I probably wouldn't choose it...but my house was built in 1962...therefore perfect!

Colours have a profound affect on me - literally making me salivate or shiver. Have just spent an eye-watering amount of money on yarn because the colours (many shades of red).

Maybe because where I live is so unrelentingly green - all 12 months of the year - I'd just as soon have some other, warmer color paint inside my house. I get my fill of very much the same as that paint color every time I look out the window :-) But then I guess it's a good thing we all don't like the same things......where would the paint companies be with all those hundreds and hundreds of colors if this were not so??

I have never been able to live with a wide swath of vibrant color. I have white walls, white area rug on hardwood floors, white furniture, white kitchen and white marble counter tops all white bathrooms and powder rooms......you get the picture????? I use throw pillows, pictures, towels to bring in color in small splashes. If I am in a room with a lot of color I get nervous I cannot be calm..

Green is my favorite color in clothing, in the garden but not on my walls or furniture.

aaarrrgh - we are complete opposites, Marquest. You would probably have an aneurism in my house - many textiles, tapestries, and dense deep colours - entire walls buried in books, stacks piled up the edges of stairs. I, on the other hand, would absolutely wither away with white...and worse, every little finger print and smudge (and there would be thousands within a week -filthy dogs, rampaging offspring) would be screaming out at me. I have many, many paint swatches and wool scraps (I do a lot of Fairisle and colourwork) and colour is an intricate aspect of my life...which is why I have been scratching my head at my current mini conversion to grey (but with lilacs, smoky pinks, mustard, burgundy...oooh, just speaking the colour names gets me going).

Campanula, you have me laughing so hard my family is wondering if I am going crazy. You are right from your description they would probably take me out in a straight jacket screaming.

I know a lot of people think white shows dirt and is impossible to live with. But I have a dog/Mastiff, a bird/Cockatoo, and a cat/Havana Brown. Granted no one goes in my living room unless it is guest but that is because of the white carpet. I have a gameroom/sitting room/tv room. That is where anything goes. As far as I could go there was chocolate brown and white color scheme. The kitchen is not a problem. I cook on the stove and not on the walls or cabinets. I still do not know why it seems I hear it is hard to keep white clean.

I made the mistake once of painting my powder room yellow because it had the 50s tile colors of yellow/green. (did not have the funds to remodel the room right away) Every time I went in that room to clean it I swear I would itch and could not wait to get out of the room. The next year I had it ripped out and done in white.

With my love of white you know I have a white garden. I hate red but there is some in the garden and there is a little and pink makes me sick, bubble gum yuck but some is there with purple. But my favorite garden is the white garden and the hosta garden of the thousand shades of green.

Put in and maintained a large perennial garden for a customer who didn't want any red flowers in it. Had to respect her wishes but had to also go along with horticultural reasons for particular perennial plant selection, not least immediate availability of plants.

Found that with lots of ongoing changing flower colour people don't focus on their least favoured colour.

Blue is my favorite color so the house is blue but outdoors in the garden beds I went with what attracted/sustained pollinators. My near neighbor is a beekeeper so I asked him for suggestions on bloom colors as well as what my Internet research offered. Perennial & shrub resources also offered ideas that I incorporated plus my ND neighbor had planted lots of things to sustain pollinators so I harvested seeds from his plants to winter sow.

I ended up with garden beds that not only please my eye, they bring in the pollinators. Even now in December a half dozen or more birds show up daily at my birdbath. I bought larger seed/suet feeders so I wouldn't need to fill them as often (my legs are as old as I am).

Well, just look at Google images of the planet taken from space and it's undeniably GREEN. I've no objection.

I guess the objection is corporate scream this is the color for this year as though paint is cheap, furniture is cheap heck I have seen pillows are hundreds if dollars for a pillow, Corporate cannot get me to go out and buy paint and all new decor because the new color IS......

You've heard white is hard to keep clean because it is hard to keep clean! I had white tile floors in my kitchen, dining nook, and foyer at the house I just sold, and I'm telling you the truth when I say I mumbled and grumbled about that *!&#@!! floor every single day...I would clean it (meaning vacuuming and mopping), and within 1/2 hour or so it would start to show any and all hair (mine or the dogs'), any cooking splatter whatsoever, lint from clothing/kitchen towels, whatever. I HATED THAT WHITE FLOOR WITH A PASSION. Unfortunately, changing the tile was not in the budget (large area - $$), and when we finally had some money saved had more pressing things to spend it on - new tile just wasn't as important as addressing the leaky roof, the need for a new furnace, the collapsing patio, etc. By the time that all got fixed and the house was great outside of that ugly-*ss kitchen floor, we figured a move was on the horizon so would be waste of $$ to replace it.

Anyway, about a week or so after I moved the new owner asked me to stop by to pick something up, and when she opened the door sure enough -- white floor looked trashed...

Mxk3, sounds like you really hated that floor. J/K. I do think it can be difficult with what floor coverings you have in other parts of the house how dust and other stuff moves within the house too. I had a chocolate brown area rug at the front door that I hated because no sooner than it was clean it was a mess. It seem to collect every speck of lint that was in the air.

The only white floor tile areas I have are the bathrooms and powder room. The white tile in my bathrooms have never been a problem. Just a damp mop twice a week and they are great. I have light oak flooring in the kitchen but the cabinets, back splash and counter are white marble. Again they get clean every night after dinner. It needs no more cleaning than I would do if everything was black.

I am a shoes off person as soon as I hit the door. No little kids in the house, the dog does not shed mastiff have little to no shed, the cat and the bird no problem.

My point exactly. This is no revelation. Next they will be saying that spring is about rebirth and regeneration. But if it sells some paint...

I always look at these trend things with a heavy does of skepticism. These colour trends have a way of going around in circles: wait long enough and you will be in, then out, then back in again. One of last year's Color of the Year was Rose Quartz...i.e. Pink with a Pretty New Name. After the countless Houzz threads with people and their pink bathrooms, I'm sure many were relieved they were bang on trend again!

There has been some discussion online that a certain well-known celebrity has been behind the green movement...

It is not easy being green. LOL

While none quite go down the GREENERY path of Pantone's choice, as usual there is no shortage of 'choice' names - I'm particularly taken by "Kettleman" and "Poised Taupe".

Bah - still not a patch on 'Dead Salmon' or Elephant's Breath...not that I would consider either for home decor or clothing. I thought we were all over the dark greys (Downpipe Grey)...and would not enjoy being in a 'Cloudberry 'environment either - too cold and can look cheap. I once made the mistake of painting a bedroom in shades of plum and aubergine...only to find my blood pressure going through the roof - had to enter in darkness and repaint as soon as funds were available. My dad was a painter and decorator - time served too - the full 7 years - so I am ridiculously sensitive to paint colours.Here in the UK, we are still seeing many shades of teal...with a smattering of pinks and purples. My go-to colours for living are greens, duck egg blues, deep reds - there will be no beige in my household. Honey Glow is also a bit...grim.

I always wanted a job at naming colors and streets in developments. I just passed by Demensional Place....

I never left the " green Movement" totally, but I have been branching out lately.Our shops are jade/mint green. My husband is sold on the idea that green and black is a color combination that makes for less accidents and enhances accuracy. He and I have still bled and bled red in his green workshop and made our share of mistakes. So much for his theory but then again maybe I would have cut a limb off and not just a well nicked thumb on the tables saw.

Our office is done in the colors of a Klee Painting. Mottled Terri cotta, Warm sponged grey, a tertiary Yellow Green, more yellow than green.
