Holiday Gift Wrapping & Organizing: How Do You Do It???
Comments (35)excel spreadsheets? lists? rooms dedicated to wrapping? Sheesh that's far too organized for me. I thought just getting the ornaments organized by tree was a HUGE undertaking! For wrapping I use the desperately rushed, christmas is in 4 hours, need a bottle of wine approach. I spread out the entire mess of crap with a hole in the middle for me and the wine, and begin digging my way out carefully :p I actually am organized when it comes to the decorations though. I have one attic for trees, one for ornaments that go on the trees that are on the 3rd and 4th floor as well as the decoration, and then I store the decorations and ornaments for the first floor and second floor are kept on the second floor. Less hauling down (and up) stairs that way :) I also label the boxes for the appropriate tree which is helpful when distributing boxes around the house. WHile I can obviously see what's vintage and what's traditional as well as all the other themes of a tree through the plastic boxes, I don't know how many vintage go to each tree unless I put them in separate boxes. THat leaves me just enough ornaments for each tree without taxing my little brain. I wish I could apply that kind of organization to presents LOL I do actually wrap all but the Santa ones in advance (so that's the 23rd verses the 24th btw) and those can go out under the main tree. I have been known to buy the same thing more than once...perhaps that list idea is a good one LOL Gad a room dedicated to wrapping and holiday storage...well I'm a bit nutso over christmas (major santa barf is in EVERY room) so that would have to be a big big big room! But it's a lovely fantasy!...See MorePlease help with creative gift presentation...
Comments (9)Thanks for all the ideas! I will share this with my DH tomorrow. In the meantime, I came up with some rhyming lines, but not sure they all go together. If anbody wants to add or change this to make it better, please do... Santa is working hard this year to give you a gift that will bring great cheer. He's giggling and laughing and shouting with glee He'sleft you a gift But it's not under the tree Santa knows you are going to need a lift So please accept this spcial gift this special gift is just for you i hope you'll enjoy it the whole year through Just remember wherever you go You have a family that loves you so. My other idea I came up with is to use the 12 Days of Christmas, but I can't think of something for each day...again, please add or change anything.... On the 12th day of Christmas my parents gave to me 12 months of payments 11 gallons of gas 10 ?? 9 ?? 8 ?? 7 quarts of oil? 6 months of insurance 5 seat belts? 4 new tires 3 air fresheners? 2 license plates (or set of keys) 1 (red/silver) car...See MoreDo You Like Getting Gifts Gift-Wrapped or in the Bag
Comments (37)As long as I didn't have to clean up the mess of the shredded paper, I didn't mind wrapped. I kind of enjoyed wrapping gifts. But I do think it's a waste of money and other resources. Better to use the comics or something. You can get creative in wrapping. My sister was the first to start using bags and cheapo that I am, I'd save and reuse them. We'd give the same bag back and forth. Now I use the reusable shopping bags more and more for gift bags. It's an extra gift in itself. As far as what I'd prefer to receive? An envelope. Stuffed with cash. Large denominations. As I've said before, THERE'S a thoughtful gift! You may wrap it in money if you want. Or use cash for the tissue too if you like. Christmas is approaching. Feel free to send anytime. It's cheaper to ship too!...See MoreGift wrap or gift bags?
Comments (5)I let the gift dictate the type of wrapping. I prefer to use wrapping paper for items that are easily wrapped. I use gift bags for those items that aren't so easily wrapped. If I receive a gift in a bag, I save the bag for future use. I never use curly ribbon - I've cleaned up too much of it from our beaches and my cats will eat it....See Morehhireno
