dlm--still looking for DR chair fabric? Saw this, thought of you
Comments (4)Ok - I've been outed (hanging my head in shame as I try and sneak outa here!) ummmm ...... the chairs are already done and I haven't posted an update - but what else is new??!! I'm the queen of not following up with the end of the story :-/ That Cottage Vine fabric is very cute! Are you going to use it or something like it in your MBR? I ended up with something more colorful and a bit funkier than my initial plan but when I saw it I knew it was the one! I promise - cross my heart - I will post pics tomorrow. The room is no where near done, nothing on the walls, no rug..... but the chairs are done and I'll show you how they look....See MoreHelp with arguement - proportion of rug/dr table
Comments (7)i wouldn't make it an all or nothing question..i would weight all the pros and cons..first..how often is this room used for dining, if it is used more than 8 to 10 times a year then consider it a dining room and then pay attention to the safety of the guests and the floor..but if it is an only occasionally used for large meals type room, then consider how you want it to be. You can always put some felt circles under the rear legs of the chairs so that they are not scratching the floor if you like the rug and keep it. my rug in my dining room is NOT large enough to be under the rear legs of the chair, there really is no proper way to use a larger rug in this room, and so we leave it. We only use the rug for large meals occasionally and no one has ever noticed or if they have they haven't said anything. we use the room ourselves, but not for everyday eating meals, we use it for other things..as well..conversation, working on paperwork, etc..but we don't feel the need to replace the rug....See MoreYour opinions on this rug and my plans for the DR
Comments (17)I like the Ikat pattern but then I love lots of pattern layered together in a room. That DR (one of my faves too) has 3 radically different patterns standing out in the room & a 4th on the chairs, so if you want that feel go for the pattern. You've already determined that you would like to use a solid grass cloth so that's taking out 1 of 3 bold patterns in the inspiration room. For me #2 is too sedate for the look you're going for. Don't get me wrong, option 2 and solid grass cloth will still look very pretty put just not following the same almost Bohemian Farmhouse feel of Sarah's room. My pick would be the Ikat #3. It's really pretty! This post was edited by TheFoxesPad on Sat, Feb 22, 14 at 21:31...See Morestill trying to figure out lr furniture arrangement
Comments (57)anele - I tried the sofa on the wall with a chair at each end of the sofa, facing each other, but the problem with that arrangement is that it leave the room feeling a little lopsided. Most all the furniture, except the piano and the small cabinet near the 1/2 wall, is on one side of the room. Having the two chairs in the window helps to balance everything better. I'm not sure the table I have between the chairs right now is the best for that space. It is taller than the arms of the chairs and does kind of get in the way of conversation. I'm going to be on the lookout for a better table for that area. I agree that the wall behind the sofa will be a challenge. hill - you are right about the sofa blocking too much of the window and your comment about open, inviting and balanced are exactly what I was hoping to achieve. Here is the room today with the furniture in place and the rug added back in. It is not the right size or can I get away with it anyway? It is centered on the window and the sofa. See how the chairs are on the rug, but the sofa isn't? Another view (ignore the desk and audio equipment on the left). I I know I need to add a table to the left of the sofa. Most likely the table that was here originally (now sitting between the chairs) will come back to this location. Now I need to work on placing lamps, pillows and other accessories. Thank you to everyone who helped me get to this point....See Moredaisychain Zn3b
