I take a photo of the marker first and then the flower. When you upload your photos to your computer you'll have a quick and easy way to remember which is which as the marker comes first and then the flower photo. When so many daylilies start to look alike, it is easier to remember which is which. Just how I do it and it works for me. Julia

I'm not really sure what you are asking. Are you saying that after mowing them down, that they are coming up as stalks that are not branching out into a bush? If so then they will branch out eventually. You may not have to do anything. However, you can help the branching along by keeping them pruned at their present height. If you don't do anything they will grow into the monsters that were there before. This will happen rather quickly since they still have their monster root system.

When I started using Houzz I was amazed at how accurate the results of my searches were (in addition to the size of the photos database). It was a great resource. More recently when I've prepared to undertake projects, I've noticed that I just don't get the same, accurate results. My searches are riddled with results that just aren't pertinent. I think this is due to the incorporation of advertisers from my city and surrounding areas (contractors, builders, and others). There are enough ads (or results that are somehow influenced by someone who has something to sell) now to really hinder the flow of design ideas. I guess many internet sites end up using advertisers but it morphs the user experience. It's really made using Houzz less fruitful.

Yes, it's Papou. I found the name later. No, the only hosta_freak photo I have is when we were comparing hosta Pizzazz specimens. He had a great Sharp Dressed Man, so I looked for a photo of that on the Houzz, but had no luck. Many of the great old photos were lost when Photobucket started requiring a paid account to display the existing photos. When I first started posting, Gardenweb did not host photos, so everyone had to find a place to host them. As storage got cheaper, sites started hosting their own photos, and the need for Photobucket decreased. So, they changed the terms of service. By then, a lot of the posters had moved on, either from death or new interests. So, those photos are lost. This was Phil's pizzazz: Bruce didn't post a whole lot if I remember correctly. He posted the bed of his fragrant hosta every year. It was in front of his porch. I can't remember if it was plantaginea, Venus or Aphrodite. I think it was Aphrodite, though. It was a real challenge to get it to bloom. I figured if an expert like Bruce couldn't do it, I certainly couldn't. So, I didn't purchase another one when mine croaked. ken has always posted good tutorials with photos, but rarely posted hosta photos. UK hostaman posted great photos. I can't remember her name, but a lady in Canada posted lots of great photos. She think she was newhostalady's neighbor (bear in mind that I may not have remembered names correctly). bkay
