Need Built-in Microwave to go with Kenmore Elite 4804
Comments (0)I bought the Kenmore Elite 4804 wall oven at 50% off recently figuring to also buy a matching microwave or microwave/convection oven. I was specifically planning to buy the Kenmore Elite 6790 with the trim kit but after reading the specs I see that it can't be installed above an oven. There are also some complaints about it getting very hot. Any recommendations for a convection microwave or standard microwave to go with the Kenmore Elite 4804 wall oven that would look good together? Since they will be stacked I was hoping to keep it a Kenmore but the selection is very limited. Thanks Tony...See MoreAny good built in/wall microwaves out there?
Comments (6)@sprtphntc7a, our family is 2 adults, no kids, we currently use the oven quite a bit (3+ times a week) for chicken, roasts, vegetables, etc. Also use our (cheap counter) microwave a lot to reheat left overs, warm up cold coffee, etc. but we would like to get rid of that in the remodel to make room for more counter space. @dyhgarden while I agree that we can't really trust reviews that much, it seems very odd that the Bosch microwaves have such bad reviews in Bosch's own website! There are 7 reviews right now, 6 are 1/5 stars and 1 is 2/5. Right now we are thinking we might splurge and get the Miele microwave ($1600), still debating on the speed oven ($2000). My only hesitation is that I had a Jenn-Air micro/convection combo in another apartment, and whenever I tried to use it for anything other than microwaving I ended up frustrated and used the regular convection oven instead. Also, while I think the steam/combo would be nice to have, I think we value having a microwave more right now so that's not an option. The other thing we're now seriously considering if we go with Miele is to downsize to a 24" convection oven. We have the room for a 30" oven, but if we go with Miele we can save quite a bit ($3300 for 24" Miele SensorTronic/MasterChef vs. $3600 30" Miele DirectSelect or $4500 for 30" Miele SensorTronic/MasterChef). We have a 30" oven now but we have never cooked anything that wouldn't have fit in a 24" model, and faster preheating, energy savings, plus 6" more counterspace would be big plusses. The only downside might be resale value, but 24" ovens are not that uncommon in New York City....See MoreBuilt-In Microwave Cabinet & appropriate size of microwave
Comments (5)Holy mother of god those are huge - especially the one that is 2.2 cu ft. Your sister may love being able to throw a 9x13 in the microwave, but it doesn’t sound like something you’ve been missing in your life up to this point. If so, then I wouldn’t go that big. I personally have never had the need to reheat an entire casserole/whatever - usually it’s individual portions, or a couple of portions at a time, but not an entire pan. But like many other things, others may feel differently. We have a 1.2 cu ft microwave in an upper cabinet and it fits a full size dinner plate with room to spare, which is all that we personally need. A 2.2 cu ft MW sounds like it’s the size of a small wall oven. A 30” wide cabinet is a pretty large space for a MW, if you’re looking to fill the space as much as possible then go big, but if you don’t need/want it that big then go smaller (1.6 cu ft is still pretty big) and get the trim kit....See Moreneed advice how to make the entertainment wall look contemporary
Comments (7)I think it is beautiful and I wouldn't touch it. I don't know what you mean by contemporary but I think that's exactly what the style is. It sure isn't country farmhouse. I often think wood should be painted, but I wouldn't paint that wood. It looks great with your sofa and everything else in the room....See MoreSherrie Zweig
