One- or Two-Stage Gas Furnace?

We're looking to replace a gas fired hydronic forced air heating system with a gas furnace. Our one-story 1600 square foot house is in North Carolina. The 2-stage systems are more expensive and don't save that much gas over a 1-stage. But is it more comfortable? We worry that a gas furnace will dry the indoor air more that our hydronic system, which is outdated and not available any more. But we thought that maybe the gas furnace would dry the air less at the low setting. That would be a reason for us to spend the extra money for a 2-stage unit. Any comments? Thanks.
