Powdered laundry detergent for front load washer
Comments (11)I use it myself. Love it and recommend it to friends. I'm on a well that has lots of dissolved minerals in the water. (Tastes almost like a European mineral water to drink it w/o filtering.) Seems to handle our well water fine and clothes haven't gotten dingy like some of our neighbors complain about from the minerals. I don't use chlorine bleach and seldom use oxyclean (only if there are stains on whites). FYI... Costco recently (end of last year) changed the size of the Kirkland HE box. Going against the trend for downsizing, they added 40 more loads to box and kept the price the same. Now THAT's value. As for the odor, it's never bothered me. Hint, open the box and leave the top open for a day. Use white vinegar as your fabric softener and you'll have just the right scent. I also use the new Kirkland environmentally friendly HE liquid. Comments (16)oranili: "So why should i use this liquid ?" What I am about to write will challenge some semi-religious convictions; that is not my intent. One needs always to respect religious beliefs, and I do. Powder detergent can perform no function at all until it is dissolved in the wash water ... at which point it becomes a liquid detergent. By the time that it does, or can do, anything, every laundry detergent is a liquid detergent. A liquid detergent (out of the bottle) has a head start in dissolving in the wash water over a powder detergent (out of the box). It takes powder a longer time to dissolve into water than it takes a liquid detergent to mix with water...See MoreSURF Powder detergent in a Front load Washer
Comments (26)Mich...I am not sensitive to most scents, I may not be a fan of scents but I'm not sensitive. All of the Surf varities drive my nose insane. I gave a ton away since i could not stand how it made my head feel LOL....I bet this detergent above all the choices out there would drive our Roc crazy. I don't remember Surf smelling so potent years ago. Thanks for the up on Surf liquid, I suppose I should buy a small one at the dollar store to pack away..so 20 years from now when one of you guys are hunting for it, I'll have it for you lol....See MoreBest Detergent for Front Loader with Septic System
Comments (14)We had total septic failure 4 years ago and had to replace. Once you see how basic the system is you become very aware. The plumber's comment about the defunct tank, which cracked and leaked, is that there was a lot of dried soap in there. Having watched them install the new system I am very careful. I should probably be more careful and only use things like Vaska vs the Persil I sometimes use. The saving grace is that I use very small amounts, however since our water is very soft. I also use Rid X once a month to keep the system healthy. I never use chlorine bleach as that's an issue for septic systems and I don't use antibacterial anything. Alcohol does a better job anyway and evaporates. I use half a Method dishwasher tab for most loads and only an occasional Finish quantum because those contain some bleach. Not sure there is a "best" product. Depending on size and usage, septic systems need to be professionally pumped out every so many years -- there's a chart for that online. For our house it's every 7 years. If it's built properly and maintained, it should be problem free....See MoreAlex Chicago
