Florence Henderson Has Died

I'm slightly embarrassed to say how much I care; I watched that show religiously as a kid. I guess she had heart failure. Yes, I though she was a wonderful mom on that show. :)

I was saddened when I heard this as well. She was 82.

It was 6 years ago that she was on Dancing with the Stars. It doesn't seem that long ago.

RIP Florence. You were everyone's mom.

I saw her in a commercial not to long ago. She still looked good. She definitely will be missed.

Madame Plantier is going to bloom pretty well. This is amazing to me because, on two mornings in a row, the new shoots were frozen solid and would break like glass. They wilted down, then stood up and started growing. I am seeing in the shoot tips a central flower bud that is brown and flanking buds that are developing. Most of the brown buds were too small to be seen (by half-blind me, anyway) during the freeze. On other roses that weren't protected, all the new growth was burnt to the point of uselessness. Now we are starting over with 1-2 inch shoots like it's early April after pruning.

Dan, when they start to crack and shrivel, they are fantastic. I eat them peel and all. Here is some of the history and I really want to see how it performs for those who have it: ---me asking--- Would you happen to recognize this fig? I call it the Los Lunas Fig. Actually, I got it from a gentleman that rescued it from a 100+yr old building that was torn down. Los Lunas, NM was a very famous train station town so if I had to guess it would be Italian/Spanish.Many of the inhabitants of Los Lunas were result of Spanish coming thru New Mexico. We have Catholic Spanish churches here that are hundreds of years old that are made from mud bricks! The figs are very tasty and if you look at the pictures we were collecting figs until November! ---the reply--- I think this fig, it is from the "Alacantines" group. It is very similar to "carabasseta". The "carabasseta" fig was and it is growing in the Balearic Islands.These figs types was used to dry also to fresh. The monks that populated the churches, they came mainly from "Mallorca".

Bristol? I thought she did ok and held her own. This girl is under a lot of pressure. IMHO Rick Fox wow and married to Vanessa Williams that's a match!! Anyway. I thought David H looked old and tired rather than drunk. and he is a big star in Germany but not here anymore. I too could do without a lot of the filler stuff . Someone said their dad was in the audience can't remembr who said it but they didn't pan the audience anyone know? Tonight they send someone home. I think the first part of the show is just recap.

Wow Cori Ann! It has been on my dream about list since you post about it the first time... Unfortunately, I do not believe that it ever made it to someone's garden in SA. Otherwise, I would have been willing to cross the country for a cutting :-) It really is lovely. Please post more photos as it blooms and matures. A little off topic but how is your Homere doing? I eventually obtained a little plant last year but so far it has not been doing much, probably because it is curtently in a pot in the shade. We are relocating soon and I spent most of our autumn digging out and potting up about 200 or so roses that I want to take with to our new home. I also triet to pot up or make cuttings of several other special plants, so every available spot in the garden is currently occupied by pots and planting bags :-)

She was on DWTS a few days ago. She often came back to be in the audience so it must have been quick.

Wow, I didn't hear about it. I know they have been talking about her lately. When did it happen? I think I saw her in the DWTS audience for the finale.

This surprised me too, but if she was in the audience only a few days before than this was certainly not expected.

I used to love watching The Brady Bunch. I loved that house with the long staircase.

Very sad, grew up watching the Brady Bunch too. Lived in San Pedro and my brother went to school with Michael Lookingland (Bobby).

I heard in the news that she'd said her inspiration for playing Mrs Brady was the mom/childhood she never had. She was perfect mom alright. RIP.

I guess that's the way to go if it's your time. She looked so healthy and well just a few days ago in the audience.

Her obit in our morning Chicago Tribune says she was the youngest of 10 children. Dad was a sharecropper. She was working at 17. Survived by four children -- no mention of husband(s) or siblings in the obit.
