Have you ever returned a item you brought at Amazon ?
Comments (23)I think the success of returns is directly linked to whether you are buying verified by Amazon products, or 3rd party sellers who also post (crap) for sale on Amazon. I've been burned twice now by 3rd party sellers. I will never again buy something on Amazon from a 3rd party seller. Amazon was only partially useful in attempting to resolve both issues. I could type the whole saga out but in the end, I bought products on Amazon no one would stand behind. One product was not as advertised (was a cheap Chinese knock-off, not the genuine thing), and the other product was advertised as having a life time warranty which the seller would not honor. Both times the 3rd party sellers were unresponsive, and actually 1 seller got weirdly upset and borderline personal with me (it was borderline creepy). All communication went through Amazon's system too, so they can follow the conversations. In the end, the defective product is still for sale through the same 3rd party seller on Amazon and still comes with a lifetime warranty no one will likely honor. I wanted to love Amazon. I used to love Amazon. But they are wrecking their good name by associating with 3rd party sellers who are shysters and so as much as it kills me, I'm no longer buying anything from them....See MoreAmazon’s new pilot program for Prime & Whole Foods
Comments (24)vgkg - yep, I've seen similar here. Aldi has raised their Sea Scallops twice in the last few months. They had been $9.99 for 12 oz. back in the early spring and then went up to $11.99 around May and just went up again to $13.99. Still a lot cheaper than the price you are seeing. I haven't seen snow crab for $5/lb here for over a decade. They have been in the mid teens per pound since pre-covid with an occasional sale around $10. Now I don't even bother to look at them. I'd rather have King Crab but I'm not paying what they are asking these days....See MoreIt Blows Me Away What You Can Buy on Amazon
Comments (55)Gardengal: I'll admit my words included a bit of exaggeration, but monopoly is as monopoly does. Is Amazon there yet: do they want to crush their competitors (bad), or just keep doing better than the competition (good)? So far personally I think they are mostly on the "good" side, but things change so I'm not guaranteeing my support forever. Angela & others: A company can outsource execution of something (a component of a product, or delivery to customer's door) but that doesn't absolve them of responsibility for keeping their word. When I one-click, I expect the product to show up as Amazon promised -- correct product, good shape, on time. If it doesn't, I'm mad. What I like about Amazon is they DO take responsibility by offering refunds, etc if something went wrong in the delivery chain, all the way to me. I'm aware of efforts they are trying to deal with porch pirates -- lock boxes, that weird service where they get to enter your home -- but personally I haven't needed that yet. So overall I'm still a fan. Ten, 20 years from now? Who knows....See MoreHeirloom and Amazon - maybe you should read this folks.
Comments (31)Just a follow-up here re Heirloom Roses. I ordered two from their website, then two more from their website, then changed my mind twice and changed my orders! I got the first two - in one gallon pots (far from the bands I got from the former Heirloom folks). I re-potted both of them into 5 gallon cans for later fall planting. I was very impressed with the roots fully holding the soil, but not pot-bound. Stems looked healthy. they are already growing and leafing out, even though I got them in the midst of a record heat wave for us. I had also found an Heirloom rose I wanted on Amazon, so ordered it there because I coudn't be bothered to go get my purse and enter my credit card info for the Heirloom site. I got the Amazon rose right away. My other two from Heirloom that I ordered a couple of months ago come tomorrow or the next day. The Amazon rose also looked great, and when I re-potted it to larger can the roots seemed perfect. I talked with someone at Heirloom who explained that Amazon requires immediate shipping - so that's why you get them right away. AND, I learned that with Amazon you get a 30 day guarantee, but direct from Heirloom you get a one year guarantee (or warranty?). Via the Heirloom website you can be part of the buds and blooms, but not via Amazon. So...if you want rewards and a one-year guarantee - shop the website. If you need to "hide" your rose purchases, shop Amazon. So far, I couldn't be happier with my Heirloom purchases. As I say above, ask me after a year if I still feel that way! :-)...See MoreLynnNM
