Royal Colors package arrived!
Comments (9)Anna I cut the tops off plastic bottles and invert, filling the neck area with perlite. Place the bottle spout on palm and fill neck with perlite, add a little water, let drip out and perlite will swell blocking the neck. Set rootless bulb on top of perlite and finish filling the plastic top use shells, stones, beads to keep the bulb/bulblett in place. Set whole thing in a glass or bottom of bottle or in soil being careful to not imerse in water. Fill bottom cup with water just below where the bulb sets. I will also dig a small hole in soil fill 1/2 with perlite then set the plastic top with bulb in hole. Make sense? The roots seem to just grow knowing there is moisture waiting an inch or so below their basal plate. The plastic and perlite also support the bulb until roots develop. Perlite filled bottle top From 2010-2011 Amaryllis Set in bottle bottom with a little water covering neck of bottle top From 2010-2011 Amaryllis 2 Perlite seated bulblets set in soil with the mama From 2010-2011 Amaryllis I have received large rootless bulbs and for them, I use a quart or 1/2 litre size bottle...works just the same! Oh and I keep in window or sheltered area where rain won't over fill or float them until well rooted....See MoreReceived My Royal Colors Order Today
Comments (16)Ooooops! It took me two years to get up the nerve to order from them, and mine is in that same shipment. Not knowing when they would arrive, I had them shipped to my school (sorry, I repeat myself). Every time my classrooom intercom sounded, I thought "This could be it", but it wasn't. You see, the office always notifies me when a package arrives. Then, I can send a student (who has completed his/her assignment) to the office to retrieve the package for me. It's such a thrill to see these students get excited and all those hands going up, saying "Pick ME, Pick ME!" Hee! Hee! I am hoping that this will happen the first part of next week....See MoreFirst order arrived today
Comments (8)Hopefully our weather breaks here so I can get them planted. Not cold, but we are getting rain on and off, temps are rising but now the ground is too wet to plant and looks to be this way for the rest of the week. We heard thunder last night and sounds like I hear thunder again in the distance. Must be a storm coming. I'm not complaining. I'd rather have rain than snow or sleet. Comments (17)Oh wow chad I have that one on order. I will go see what I can find on it. I didn't know that it was pbf also. Do you have it? Can you expound on "extremely variable"? I found a list somewhere (?) of variegated iris that I hadn't heard of before and wrote them down. I have the oddest hang up with wanting to get one of every one there is (bearded). lol Have you heard of 'Pink Marble'? I have been trying to find that one for a year now - to no avail. I found a seller that has it but they said it hadn't multiplied enough to sell any of it and they probably wouldn't sell it for at least another 3-4 years. :(...See Morejoshuay
