A funny shoe mishap!

Tonight my daughter and I went to a small boutique to look for a semi-formal dress for her winter dance. She tried on several dresses and they asked if she wanted to try on some heels with them too and we declined. We went to another store and then came back to the first one and my daughter decided she wanted to try on a pair of heels after all. There were two young employees and one was helping a customer. My daughter tried on the shoes and then took them off, but one shoe would not unzip in the back and that was the only way to get the shoe off. I tried, both girls tried, they called their boss and she suggested they put a little dish soap on the zipper, but that didn't work. She told us we could wear the shoe home and then return after we got it off or we could cut the strap. We chose to cut the strap. The employees were too scared to cut it, so I did. We all were laughing and I told them to have fun telling this story. We laughed the whole way home and I'm really glad my daughter ended up buying a dress there!

The ending was much nicer than my shoe story. I was shopping for winter high boots with my daughter and the two of us seem to encounter hilarious situations and laugh accordingly. We went to a small shoe store and the owner, a man, took out the three pairs from the back, proceeded to pull the little stool with the slanted front and he sat down and I put my foot on the slanted part. He then carried on, pretty silently, to try to put a high boot on me and was failing miserably when I said "let me do it" and I grabbed both sides of the boot and pulled with all my might but I was a little too vigorous cuz, as my leg went in the boot, the force was so great that the boot ended smashing him in the crotch and he fell off the stool moaning. I'm still laughing now. We were soo horrified that we left rapidly with my daughter pushing me towards the door and carrying my other shoe and me with one on my foot. We laughed out of our minds all the way home. Yeah we're like that.

I could just see her sweating bullets. Glad it worked out! Wish we could see the dress. I love all kids, but I got a boy. Missed out on the girly stuff, but it's ok. I LOVE my boy.

Long, long ago, I worked at a jewelry store and you should see the look on someone's face when they can't get the ring off that they've tried on. Sheer panic! The worst one was a $10,000 diamond tennis bracelet. You can't cut those off.

Well, I'M not laughing. Simply because this is something that would totally happen to me. AND it would happen as I'd have assembled a bunch of people to watch me use the epoxy. (My life is such a comic strip!) Anyway, when I used to be obsessed with long finger nails I would glue any broken ones back on (I promise I have a point). Anyway, nail glue is about the strongest adhesive I have ever seen (smelliest too) but, I would accidentally glue my fingers to the back of my opposite hand, to walls, counter tops, you name it and I've probably been glued to it in an attempt at pretty nails. Nail polish remover (with acetone) took it off everytime. Nail polish always has acetone in it unless otherwise noted. It sounds like you may need several bottles! P.S. I don't care about my nails anymore.

When I was a kid, my aunt made a batch of cookies for the parish priest. Later, he told her how much he loved those "delicious lemon cookies. " "Lemon? " my aunt thought. There wasn't any lemon in the recipe. She went home and dug out the card to double check. No lemon. Then she went through all the ingredients she had used, trying to figure out where the flavor had come from. The wrong extract? Nope, that wasn't it. Had something gone sour? No. Finally, the only thing left was the oil, which this particular recipe used instead of butter or shortening. She went under the cupboard to get the bottle. Apparently, she had never felt comfortable handling big jugs of oil, which were glass back then, so she usually transferred some to a plastic squeeze bottle, typically an empty dishwashing detergent container. This time, there were two squeeze bottles in the cabinet. One said, "Lemon Joy." She never told the priest. But we always wondered what is next bathroom visit was like.

I remember a mishap at our house. It was early in our marriage and we were struggling. That particular Thanskgiving day, things did not go well and we had a spat. Dinner was over and it was time to move the turkey out of the oven to a storage bag. The pan was boiling hot and we could not hold the big bird with our hands. I said, "I've got an idea. I'll hold the bag. You take the pan, tip it up and dump it in the bag. It'll work!" The wife wearing oven mits dutifully dumped the bird into the bag even though she had questioned the whole operation. The turkey slipped out of the pan and plunked into the bag along with a quart of hot broth. The bag held for 2 seconds and then the bottom melted and dumped the whole mess on the floor! At that point, we could do nothing more than to laught at ourselves for being such idots and then clean up the mess. Since it was my idea, I got the job of swabbing the floor.

It did come off, but there were lots of nervous people. Especially since the mall was closing. We needed to shut down and count money and cases. Whew.

Once found a super-comfortable, affordable, flat that I loved. Bought a pair in black, brown and navy. Of course, there had to be a day when I came into school with 2 different colored shoes on!?! Not as funny as stories so far, but kids got a kick out of it... said I did it on purpose just to see how observant they were... right!?!
