Pip's Kitchen - updated photos
Comments (76)Pip, your kitchen is gorgeous. Would you mind telling me what size the backsplash tiles are? They look to be 1x2. Do you know what color grout was used? Do you know if your installer sealed those tiles before grouting? Did you notice the color looked the same or different after it was grouted? I have been searching for white onyx backsplash and what I've found doesnt seem to have as much color variation as yours. I contacted Stone Mill in CA and it is too cost prohibitive to have it shipped to me in MD, so I am trying to find something on this side of the country that comes close. Thanks...See MorePip's Finished Kitchen! Lots of pics
Comments (104)Absolutely lovely! I'm saving this inspiration for sure! The darker floors and and cabinets on the other side are such a nice contrast. Unbelievable you got this done in 5 weeks, that is fantastic. I just had a small bathroom redone which was supposed to be a 2-3 week reno that turned into 6 months. However my husband did it and since he does it for work, well not so motivated at home-ha. Congrats on your beautiful kitchen! ~Cat...See MoreQuartzite and granite and sealers, oh my!
Comments (7)Ugh! I typed a whole story and just lost it! I will try again... I love marble too and the light quartize but opted for LG Minuet Quartz because of its ease of maintenance. I have 2 kids and a messy DH. We push and pull and drag stuff all over the counters. We don't clean up spills in a timely fashion. I tried but couldn't find a real quartize and now after a few weeks in my new kitchen I am glad I have a low maintenance counter. I can even understand why people use laminate. It's durable and you don't have to think about it. i have to use hot plates but I have always had too so that's no big deal to me. I haven't had my Quartz long but so far it hasn't stained....See MoreNew fantasy macaubas quartzite countertop chipping
Comments (1)Sorry to hear that, Sandra. I feel for you and that sounds really frustrating. Can you post a photo of your stone from farther away? Just trying to get an overall look at the slab. Did you test it to confirm that it's really quartzite? Unfortunately, sealing don't do anything to prevent chips and scratches. But if it's quartzite it should not scratch so easily. One option for you would be to ask for a remnant from your slab so you can run the tests and really check the hardness. That's really the only way to know what you've got. Good luck!...See MoreH202
