If you've had that plant for 6 months or more and that's all the bigger it is, I'd have to say that it has not been very healthy in that time. Curry plants need lots of sun and regular water. Have you tried contacting the source you bought it from for help and information? is this Murraya koenigii (edible curry)?

Hi allgrnbrewer, do you have any curry plant seeds left for this year? If not, could I be added to the list for next year? I am going to try to root some grocery store clippings, but it hasn't worked out well for me in the past and it wousd be nice to have a light at the end of the tunnel. Thanks :)

Your question is a difficult one, in part because the curry leaf plant is not commonly cultivated in North America and Europe (where most of the gardenweb readers are), and the symptoms you describe are very general in nature and do not point to a specific cause. The wilting suggests there may be a problem with the roots or stem. It is possible for overwatering to cause roots to rot and lose function. There also are vascular diseases, fungi which plug up the vascular system. Some insect borers also can cause wilting. The pattern of lower leaves more affected than upper leaves is unusual. You could learn more by digging up roots and inspecting them, or cutting into the stem to look for discoloration that a vascular wilt might cause. This is not good for the plant and shouldn't be done unless you are willing to sacrifice the plant to learn what the problem is. If you can post a photo, that would be helpful also.

You can use the leaves of the curry PLANT, in "flavouring" lite foods ie. soups and sauces and the like. This I have done many times with great success. The curry LEAF TREE (Murraya koenigii) is the one most people use in culinary creations. So both can be used but I would prefer the curry LEAF TREE for flavouring heavy foods. and yes they are distinctively different, in look and texture and uses. So there ya go! hope this helps..
