Comments (0)Well, it looks like I may have killed my Adenium plant. For some reason I watered it, maybe because the tips had turned brown and then other tips were starting to show green. It's very obvious the base is rotting. I'm not sure if it's totally going to die yet, but I'll most likely end up taking as many cuttings as possible to save it. It has no leaves, yes, but I still have some green tips. I have never propagated an Adenium but will probably try. This is your chance to get a cutting or two off a decent sized plant. It's more tall than multi-branched, just so you know. Just let me know if you are interested. I don't care so much about trades more than I do the cuttings having a good home, but I would be interested in anything along the lines of hardy palm seedlings, Colocasia/alocasia plants, Musa Basjoo, etc. I've had the plant for years and this is kind of sad. It has bloomed every summer for me. It likes our summers....See Moreanyone interested in a cutting/plant trade come spring?
Comments (32)I love to see these trades going on. I know that we are technically supposed to post on the plant trade forum but that one has too much to wade through when you are only looking for succs or cacti. For the record. I am sharing largely because I need to get my collection to a more manageable size. In the warmer months everything is outside and can take over the balcony and that is just fine. But I learned this winter that I had too many to keep happy and healthy through the cold months when they need to come inside and go under lights. I have 3 people who I am sending plants to this weekend. I am very glad that they will be going to homes where they will be cared for. :-) Especially after my sister-in-law turned a jade that was nearly 2 foot tall into a pile of mush! I am pretty sure she left it outside when it got too cold and it froze....See MoreExperiment - Has anyone tried growing Adeniums in orchid bark?
Comments (8)Paradise princess, there is no need to pre-soak this orchid bark. This mix was purchased from a specialist orchid nursery near me, that makes their own mixes. The “Cymbidium” orchid mix is pre-treated to remove harmful elements while leaving within the bark structure traces of beneficial nutrients that the plant can take up as needed. It’s a very nice mix. With my Summer heat, and constant watering, the succulent/cacti mix just doesn’t last the season anymore without an extra repot mid season. Hence my reason for experimenting with something new....For those with long hot Summers, this orchid mix combo, could be an alternative. Agartta, this mix only stays damp 1 or 2 days longer then my usual mix....but I’d like to stress the word “damp” not wet. When I water, it drains well while holding moisture in the bark that is available to the plants roots as needed. It will be interesting to see how it goes this Winter, but I’m not too concerned. I am going to try this mix again next Spring with another plant and on a couple of 12mth old seedlings as well so I can compare the difference. Will be interesting to see how the different seedlings perform....See MoreBen(8b/9a north FL)
