Broken branch about to bloom!

We had some really bad wind yesterday and my 6' plumeria blew over. As luck would have it, the only top branch out of 6 was about to bloom...and it broke off completely. :( It's about 18" long I know I have to root it, but is there anyway it will bloom if kept in water or planted? I can bring it inside for heat My other question is that I'm in Charlotte-we could get our first frost at any time. Should I try to root the broken branch now or store it til Spring? I know this is wishful thinking, but if I reattach the branch, any chance of it blooming? It's the only branch with an inflo. I successfully reattached a limb from this same tree last year. Wind again.
