Our 'temporary houseguest' went home...
Comments (8)LOL at Quirky I really don't think I have a dog, but wouldn't mind if that ends up to be the case. :) This is what I think is going on.... this couple moved from a large farmhouse to a small 2 bedroom and I believe the wife is overwhelmed by 2 kids and this pup in a small place. Plus, I don't think she's as fond of the dog as her husband and kids. And, the one time I was in their house, there were toys and kids stuff everywhere. Well, what's a pup to do? LOL I believe that young man did the right thing by trying to find a temporary place for the dog, but think he jumped the gun by taking her back too soon. He is getting a 12X12 kennel this weekend and my husband is helping him haul it home and set it up with a short fence running from back door to the kennel. This will help with being able to allow the dog to go out without someone having her on a leash because they don't have a fenced in yard. Pretty sure the wife doesn't help when husband is at work during the day. During the time the pup was here, the young man came over at least a dozen times. He's kinda distaught. He said this was his first dog so I don't think he knew what he was in for. But, I am sure of his interest in the dog and hope I can help him get to keep her. She's a great pup. Husband and I discussed it, and we may buy him a crate to keep her in during the night because she sleeps in one here. We're also discussing having her spayed. We really want to help educate the guy, not chastise him for his shortcomings. We definitely will be getting the new puppy next week. I took off the whole summer to devote myself to it and my oldest grandson! :)...See MoreMy houseguest

So true, at first glance I could see the sadness in sweet Lilly's eyes. Hope her mommy comes home soon. She's lucky to have such loving care. Hugs and sweet doggie kisses from Auntie Lana....See MoreAppetizer to take to Easter dinner?
Comments (19)Sleevendog, the avocado pit works for guacamole, but I think the issue is really more the lemon juice and the edamame and how it bleaches out the color a bit. Goes from that bright wonderful green to something less bright. I recently made a salad with red quinoa, farro and fresh garbanzo beans a friend found for me at a farmer's market in Seattle. The next week, with no source for fresh garbanzos, I made it with edamame. I used lots of lemon juice and on day 2 of both salads the green color had faded to look much less appetizing....See MoreHouseguests - how much do you do ?
Comments (83)An only child can observe how the baby of a multi child family is catered to? Yeah. Okay. No matter the birth order,an ADULT should know better than to behave like that horrid woman did. Spoken by the baby of 6 who has done her own laundry, cooked family meals, and made her own money since before the age of ten. Catered to. Not even in my dreams. Elizabeth, you are a saint. Or you have been. When i still lived at home, I was appalled at the way my adult siblings behaved as "guests". They would leave their kids toys EVERYWHERE ,expect my mother to WANT to watch their kids at every moment(which she pretty much did want, but it wore her out) and they would leave the rooms they stayed in a mess. I was living there and wasn't so comfortable. She acted like it wasn't a big deal, but I could tell she was annoyed. My SILs ,although they are lovely people overall, are very high maintance and one is very petulant,so she never brought it up.(neither of them are only children OR babies of their family btw) And my BILs,bless their hearts, are pretty much clueless and let my sisters lead the way as far as guest etiquette. But they still never expected my mother to do their laundry, even though she LOVES doing laundry. (Shout out to Mama Pinky, you're not alone!) Seriously, don't do it again. If for some reason, you give in and let them stay again,do nothing. If she hands you a basket of laundry, take it to your laundry room and leave it there. If she brings it up,say that you didn't have time to do it,and that you didn't have time to change their sheets either. Never have time to do it,since they cheerfully asked you to do it "when you have time."Eventually, she will have to do it herself or wear dirty underwear....See Moresushipup1
