Do any of you still have any antique flower oil paintings in LR
Comments (12)I bought this one several years ago at a consignment shop. I hated the finish on the frame, but knew I could fix that problem easily. Here it is Before. It was done in a weird Shabby Chic attempt with blue in the crevices, but the carved wood frame was a nice one: Like you, I had to first figure out what would compliment the picture and work in the room . . . although complimenting the picture should always come first. I thought that an Old World look would work best with this classic print. I painted the outside 3 borders a deep rich brown. This is just acrylic craft paint, BTW. I then used a Raw Umber wash over the outer two, allowing it to stay in the crevices of the second border's carvings. I knew that I wanted the inner frame edge to be gold, so I painted that and then used gold Run-N-Buff on the border next to it. This was a good segue to the gold inner border, IMO. I can't find the rest of my pics that I took as I painted and then antiqued the frame, but here's one of the last steps in my process. After this, I just antiqued the gold inner border with a brown antiquing wash and it was done. The bottom line is that you can use the small bottles of acrylic craft paint, glaze and antiquing medium to easily get what you want on pretty much any ratty or wrong colored frame. I had enough art already on our walls but, with our high ceilings, I wanted to hang something over the doors in our family room. I found the plates after that to hang on either side of it. They're not that orange IRL, but more of a soft amber color. The camera's flash bounces through the glass, off the cream wall behind them and always makes them look like that in pics! Comments (5)I think with the chocolate curtains and reddish brown chair, greenish couch and newly painted white bottoms of tables AND white kitchen cabinets, using the butter color will definitely give you the light and airy you are after. I can visualize it, but maybe someone can photoshop it for you? I think that color will be a knock-out especially with the brown curtains right next to it and in contrast to the mahogany you're talking about. Finally, in my opinion, if you adore a color you will most likely be really happy to have it around. If your cabs were staying the same color they are now I'd agree with parma, but with white it's a whole different ball game. (get some sample size and give it a try on the wall!)...See MoreWhat Paint Color for My LR
Comments (38)I do love Wilmington Tan, but the way Lindy has shown it, it makes your carpet look dirty. Lindy is right RH is for Restoration Hardware. I do like the Sycamore Green and I have paired it with Silver Sage drapes in my room which are a shade darker. As you can see, it also contrasts nicely with my red/gold chair which is a bit similar to your sofa/loveseat. I agree that I also really like the Cheyenne Green which looks a tad darker than the Sycamore green. It would be nice to see some samples on the wall and how they work with your lighting. Both RH and BM sell little sample pots for around $3/each. You can also buy sample boards at BM which I found helpful and then I would move the board around the room and put it up against my furniture to get a feel for what I liked....See MoreWould a medium paint color work in this LR?
Comments (6)Hi Up, You and I are color sisters. I have the same colored oak floors, love the terra cotta, greens, golds you have in your pinterest page, too. I don't have much advice but just know that paint on the walls is super easy to change if it turns out you don't like it. We have a smallish rancher also. I'm using the rust-terra cottas and greens, browns, off-whites in furniture, wall art, etc. Started out painting our walls Comfort Gray thinking I wanted something a little different with this house. CG is a darkish bluish, greenish gray. Didn't much care for the intensity of the color so we repainted using Rice Grain (sherwin williams) which gives us a little color but isn't overwhelming. Rice Grain plays nicely with the floor, furniture and textiles. Good luck!...See MoreUser
