shop vac questions
Comments (7)Hi. Thanks for replying. I have a half barrel waterfall that flows into a mini stream I made with three separate pools in it, that then flows into the pond. That is filled with plants like parrotfeather and iris, so I thought I might be able to let the water out in there in the barrel, so that it goes through the plant roots and the three sections before getting into the pond. It's a bit easier to vacuum out those small areas than the big pond. Also I read some info here about putting a nylon stocking on the hose inlet so all the gunk doesn't get into the shop-vac in the first place so it's cleaner water - think I might try that. I could perhaps put rocks into one of the pools so the water goes through that as well before getting to the pond. I did let the pond go too long without cleaning it up - other than cleaning the filter regularly. I had a problem with one of the the floating plants getting out of control (frogbit I think)so I decided to empty it all out to try to get that plant out of there as well as give it a good cleaning, so I built a second fairly good sized pond to put the fish in in the meantime. That should help - just having a place to put the fish if necessary. Meg...See MorePhoto Shop question

Comments (1)Using Corel PhotoPaint 12 I find it easier to create my text separately on a blank sheet. Then I mask the outer areas so I can copy and paste just the text onto the page. At this point I can manipulate it as needed and drag it where ever. If you are fairly new to Corel you will find by Googling Corel photo paint tutorials you will bring up close to 300,000 hits and you can sort through finding those that are written in a style you can understand. There are loads of great tutorials....See Moreshop-vac question
Comments (27)Wow sorry that happened! Can't help chuckling at the image of a cloud of ashes jetting out of the exhaust port. FYI, you can get filters for most vacs at hardware stores in case you don't have a Sears close by or the price is not to your liking. Note to self, check that the filter is in place before cranking up the vac. :-] Regarding all the discussion earlier in the thread about outer sleeves: they not only prevent lots of water from getting into the paper filter, but they act as a prefilter for coarse particles. Looks like no one responded to deke4 back in 2014 about the vac that ran but didn't suck. In case anyone else has this problem: I'd be checking in the inlet and outlet (with it unplugged) as far as you can see in to make sure it's not clogged. Failing that, the linkage between motor shaft and impeller may be shot, but you'd have to take some screws out of the motor assembly to see that. Another thing to check is if it has one of those float balls discussed earlier, possibly under the filter, if it's stuck in the "full" position it may shut off the vacuum without shutting off the motor. Pull off the filter and make sure that thing moves freely if your unit has one....See MorePawprint
