May I make a suggestion? Hoya imbricata likes it very wet. yes, this species grows in very wet conditions and then as it matures, it develops into a clinging vine that will climb even on cement. Start the cutting(s) in a hanging basket (six inch pot size is fine) and fill it with LFS mixed with perlite, orchid bark-fine grade. Ball the stem end for where you plan to insert into the media around a ball of LFS and plant=wedge this ball into your loose but wet media. This plant will develop roots quickly and then start making searcher vines seeking places to cling to. At this time, you can tie a piece of fern totem, redwood totem, cedar fence section, etc next to it. The clinging vine will start to make feeder roots attach itself to its host. Do not sever the connection right away. Instead grab some LFS around the base of the stems that have reached from the pot and slowly do a reverse air layer in making the new area grow roots into this wet moss. As soon as your host support is covered and roots are visible, you can make the severing from the pot. But keep this vines wet. They easily flower and side branch. I also recommend placing a nylon stocking filled with MagAmp and osmocote/nutricote and hang it above the totem, wood or stake and water and wet this stocking when doing so.

I've always had good luck on Craigslist, too. It's amazing what people are getting rid of. Nice tables!

Oh, my! Who would have guessed this would be such a hot topic? I'm definitely planning to do my outlets low and horizontal - probably one of the earlier things I learned on here (thank you for that, GW!) Going to a lighting store isn't a bad idea, though I think that'll mean a trip out to the suburbs. The last time I went to a lighting store I had to drive an hour there and back - why is it that these big stores aren't in big cities? I'm not so concerned with an exact match that I want to do any artsy/crafty project on the plates. A close match will suit me fine. I don't really need them to disappear, I just don't want them to stand out too much, and the samples I got were close enough to satisfy me. Thank you, too, for the tips about materials. Since it won't be a big expense to go with metal, I may do that. My only hesitation with the metal (switchplate on the right in the photo) is that the sample I got (the only metal one I saw) was larger than any of the plastic & nylon plates.

We are in west central Indiana and we love late bloomers. We appreciate ones such as Autumn Minaret, but our favorites are lates with teeth, edges, eyes, etc. We grow mostly tetraploid lates, but there are a lot of diploid lates. Here are some of my favorites. North Wind Dancer is a late blooming diploid. It increases fast in our garden. Last Man Standing is showy. Carrots Forever is a good grower.Cactus Blossom is another good grower.Deborah Cooney is another great grower. Sonoran Desert Rose, our introduction, is a great grower--tall, vigorous, and hardy. Time doesn't allow me to post all my pictures but you might check out Crossfire, Reindeer Antlers (both red), Ruffled Strawberry Parfait, Techny Peach Lace, Buena Fortuna. We have a section on late bloomers on our website. You can see pictures of more there. The web address is cherryhillgarden.plantfans.com. Nancy
