If you were getting 2 Dishwashers? Miele & KA or 2 Mieles?
Comments (8)I've been looking for a stemware dishwasher and this is the closest thing I've found that can be dually efficient. We entertain a lot and washing 30 or 40 glasses by hand is not something I relish! This one has 2 adjustable stemware shelves and a lower rack wineglass shelf. On the expensive side, but I think will be worth it every time I don't have to hand wash all of those wine glasses! I've learned that my friend has one and loves it....See MoreWhich Miele dishwasher to buy?
Comments (3)If you do a search on this forum, many of your questions might be answered, but more imporatnly, you will find some great breakdowns/listings of the various models with their features done by jerrod as well as by others. Type in "Miele dishwasher" or jerrod, or something more specific re: Miele DW's in the search box at the BOTTOM of this page (to search just the appliance forum), and you will find a treasure trove of answers to your asked (and unasked!) questions. Also, if you go to the Miele site (or obtain a paper catalog) you can compare the different models, feature by feature as well. FWIW, I have the Optima and LOVE it. We were deciding between it and the model two below that (the model below the Diamante which could NOT be panelled if I recall). We chose the Optima because we preferred the bottom rack configuration in the Optima, and the Optima is the first/lowest model you can get with the built-in water softener (a feature we thought would be useful). If you won't use the C&C cycle for delicate china or crystal, you can skip the cold water hook-up and have the DW hooked up to hot water (as we and others have done). You'll end up with slightly quicker cycles with the hot water hook-up, you just wouldn't be able use the C&C with delicate stuff as intended (because the incoming water would be hotter than you'd want with that cycle and most importantly, those very delicat items). Good luck with your decision!...See More2013 Miele diamond & dimension dishwasher questions

Interesting that you don't get horrible detergent smell from the glasses by using powder. I hate the powders -- can't stand the smell (though the gel is worse). Tabs are a huge improvement for me. Like it or not, the rinse aid does matter as these machines are designed for its use. (Germans seem to have a thing for surfactants). As someone said on one of the threads, if you want a Miele, and dry dishes, it's necessary to accept rinse aid. Fortunately, it's adjustable. You might have a conversation with tech support on this issue. Perhaps the newest machines are more flexible on this. Everyone's water is different. In your house in may be fine to add extra heat and use Cascade. With my soft water I wouldn't dare. However, at one point they programmed the final rinse to be hotter than normal to improve the drying. With a cold-water hook up, which I have, and the onboard heater, a hotter rinse might not affect the cycle time. Occasionally get filming -- iridescent looking streaks on a glass. So I find it useful to an empty cycle on sanitize to clean out any residual soap every few weeks....See MoreSaying goodbye to Miele :l Miele Optima Dishwasher leaking
Comments (44)Well the Miele is working again :) Thank goodness my hubby is handy. When he gets some extra time he will take the old pump apart and see what went wrong ( it had to be a seal). Giving some thought to why would the seal go so soon, I am considering using powder detergent, instead of the Finish Powerball tabs. I did notice the last time I picked them up from Costco, the tabs are more concentrated now. The box claims 8x more concentrated. I am wondering if this could possibly be an issue. Since I have whole house softener, I thought I would programme the rinse agent to 2, instead of the default to 3. I will start there, since I can't remember the days before tab detergents, anymore. I think I will give Miele support a call tomorrow. I have read and re-read how to use the built-in softener, but I am a tad unsure how it really works with a whole house softener. I have my machine hooked-up to soft cold water. I live in an area with terribly hard water. 60 plus grains. I truly doubt I should programme the machine for 60 grains because of the whole house softener. As anyone who has a whole house softener, there can be days when the water is less soft (just before regeneration). I have never had any glass nor crystal etch in my machine with either powder nor tabs. I am pleased the machine is once again working. I just now have to play with detergent and rinse agent to find a happy medium of sparkling without eating my machine seals....See More- 7 years ago
