Help please with higher end appliances
Comments (5)In that location, with higher end, people will expect Wolf and Subzero. There's not much else that will satisfy that upper end label expectation from someone who doesn't know anything but "names". Everything else that would be cheaper won't pass muster with a high end crowd. They're the "standard". for a reason. You need at least a 36" range, but a 48" or 60" would be better if the kitchen is large enough to support it. Probably a 42"-48" built in fridge, with stainless or cabinet fronts, fully integrated preferred over built in. Fully integrated DW with the cabinet panel. Ice maker, wine fridge and maybe even a secondary wall oven for a baking area. They are price controlled and you're not going to get deals on them unless they are display models. You only find those by showroom trips....See MoreIkea vs. higher-end (Signature or Cabico)?
Comments (24)Wow. I just came back in to check for responses, and what an embarrassment of riches I found! Thank you all so much for such thoughtful, and helpful, responses. Mahlgold -- I guess misery must enjoy company, but it's nice to see that I am not the only one sweating this question. Our budget is flexible (as my mother used to say, "afford is a funny word"), but the money saved would definitely be put to good use on all the other things our house needs, so if I can save here that would be great. I am not comparing apples to apples on the cabs -- the Cabicos are cherry, which of course Ikea does not carry, but I like the Tidaholm (very contemporary oak doors) almost as much. I will definitely put the current design into the Ikea tool to make sure it will work -- I already know that I will have to do one modification, to create a corner sink cab (instructions on Ikeafans!!). I have some flexibility as we are doing a gut remodel, taking down walls, etc.,but I agree that if I have to jury-rig things too much it won't make sense. You all have collectively helped me make up my mind --although I will also send up an inquiry at Ikeafans for anyone over there who has had their Ikea cabs a long time. Thanks so much -- this is such a great site!!...See MoreDishwasher Installation with Higher Counters
Comments (9)Our counters are 37" and we needed to do somethin' about those feet too. We ended up taking them out (after carefully looking at the bottom) and nailed two sets of two 2x4's as rails under where the feet would have been. Placed the dw on the new rails. Works well, no noise transfer and the small gap at the bottom will be covered by toe kick some day real soon now. Since its a fisher-paykel, you can still see some tub on the bottom dishdrawer because of the way their dorky toe kick is made. There is nothing new about this! You could always see a little tub if you looked for it. Getting my guts up for using some plastic paint as the dishwasher is black and the outside of the tub is very pale gray. That wouldn't be an issue for a USA designed dw, but I thought I would mention it in case it happens to you....See MoreAny advice on a higher end duel fuel 36" range? Monogram vs. Wolf?
Comments (5)I have the Wolf DF. Google Wolf blue chipping. It is well documented on this site. There is one lawsuit over thus and maybe more to come. Wolf has redesigned the M series wall oven to supposedly address this but they have not on the DF range. I would recommend a separate range top and oven so that you can pick what is best for you for each component. With a range you are stuck with replacing the range if the oven goes. I have not seen any DFs that I am that taken with. I am waiting to see how the Miele is over time. I am also looking at BlueStar which is all gas, but I have an electric wall oven....See More2flyingyorkies
