We did it, we're HOME! The good and the bad lol...
Comments (13)Thanks everybody! LOL, I'm glad I'm not the only one suffering the echo effect right now. I found out today that my furniture's not coming until mid-November!! Also, what really worked for us and our cats was to lock them in one of the bedrooms while we moved. Then after everybody had left and we were getting ready for bed, that's when we actually let them out. It was quiet all night for them while they got to explore their new home. Charliedawg, I saw your pics very soon after you moved in and am jealous how you got rid of your boxes so quickly. I must have re-organized my kitchen a 100 times already lol. Here's a cute picture! Somebody better explain to Duke that he is a CAT and not a MONKEY lol....See MoreDo realtors know we are in a housing slump yet?
Comments (17)Hi Gamecock, I agree with the posters that would hold off until you are closer to actually getting to your destination city and a purchase. What is available now, won't be in several months so it's really a waste of your time to get hooked emotionally to a home now. What you should be doing(IMHO) is to connect with a good agent in your destination area. Building a relationship now will put you in good stead down the road. One thing that you MUST find out is what type of "Agency" they practice within that state. Some states still practice what's called "sub-agency" which is where agents' fiduciary duty is to the seller. Here in Arkansas, we are buyer agents unless the buyer is looking at a company listing. That puts both the buyer's agent and the listing agent in a "dual agency" position which basically means that your agent can not help you negotiate. In Illinois, we practice "Designated Agency" which puts buyers in a much better position when it comes to negotiating. In case you're confused, I'm licensed in both states. Next time you talk with an agent, find out what their state laws are regarding agency. Good luck....See MoreWhat are we reading in October?
Comments (69)I tried Ministry of Utmost Happiness and it just was not the right time or something so I returned it. Might try it again. I do like the name. Somewhere I had heard Lincoln in the Bardo was supposed to be very fine so I did seek it out and just finished it. It is highly acclaimed, and was interesting in parts , but mostly I just made myself read it and finish it, I think because I felt guilty about not sticking with Ministry of Utmost Happiness. lol sort of. I think Lincoln in the Bardo was a over my head. but I do feel a sense of accomplishment. I would say it was The Whole Town's Talking but not as easy to follow and less entertaining. Next up for real will be the Cooking Gene which now that I have looked into it, really does look like it will be a great read. Will keep you all posted....See MoreWhat are we reading in October 2019?
Comments (131)Lucky Annie, you get to immerse yourself in Moscow for a transcendent reading experience! It was definitely one of those books that left me so sad to come to the last page. I"m in the midst of reading one of the JA Jance Joanna Brady/JP Beaumont series of mysteries. This one is Fire and Ice, and although it's listed as a Beaumont mystery (I've not read that series from its start) it is actually a dual storyline book; each character alternates chapters. They are working separate cases but eventually they will dovetail and the protagonists will connect. I want to thank the person, apologies for not recalling exactly who, that recommended the Joanna Brady books. Love them, and reading one is definitely literary comfort food. I know I'll get solid characters, an intriguing mystery and a sense I've checked in with some virtual friends....See Moreponcirusguy6b452xx
