Do you decorate your pond for the holidays?
Comments (20)Thanks guys for the ideas. We had been planning to have our bathrooms remodeled all year and waiting on the carpenter to fit us into his schedule..well guess what..he's been here for a couple weeks now. I had just put up my tree and put some decorations on my screened porch when we got the call that the carpenter was ready to go to work. Don't want to lose my place in his schedule...and since they are using the entrance across my bridge and using my screen porch for cutting tile, etc...I just gave up for this year. But, it's all good and now i have some ideas for next year. MERRY CHRISTMAS everyone!...See MoreOT, but fun: When do you take down your holiday decorations?
Comments (7)When I was married my husband was in charge of outdoor decorations. We both were shift workers then at the same plant so it was natural for one of us to come home at 11 pm. I figured it was finally time to take down the front decorations as we were heavy decorators. Nothing left unturned in out yard. So when he was due in at 11 one night I had the whole outdoors lit up. Every light on. Everything moving. He unplugged it. Next night same thing He came home to Vegas lights. He showed me. Removed the extension cord. Ha I am an electrician. After the third night they were down. He is gone now. Kinda miss messing with him. Paula...See MoreA Survey: When Do You Put Up Your Christmas/Holiday Decorations??
Comments (42)Small town life sounds good to me. As does living in the country. We had a few acres when I had horses and other animals back in the 60s and 70's. Phoenix is soooo big, too much traffic, and I hate driving even if it didn't cause my leg to go on the warpath. I was born in a small town, in Ala. I don't really going places alone either, and won't go out at night except to family gatherings at one of my kids. I'm waiting the arrival of my toile plates I just bought. Tho heaven knows what I can find to do with them, but will try just because of all the support I've gotten here. Any table settings I do will be just for ONE, maybe two if you're lucky. LOL. I'm going to be a one-trick pony, sorry about that. I just can't do full tables for many reasons. I've been 'planning' my Christmas decor. Really planning this year. Thought it might take some of the load off me being so over-whelmed with it when I go to unpacking a zillion things in the middle of the floor while telling two cats NOT to help me. A zillion times! One sleepless night I started plotting different places to put things this year. I want my newly begun collection of Nutcrackers (started last year) pretty much together. But I think the purple one should go with the Santa. And I have two golf Santas and two golf Nutcrackers that should stay together. Last year they were with my two other special Nutcrackers, a policeman and a fireman. These have a lot of meaning! I'm going to put my Village in the antique china cabinet in my entry hall this time I think, instead of Painted Pony Cabinet in familyroom. Tho I still have to move over a 100 statues from BOTH. I was thinking of putting Xmas horses and reindeer in the pony cabinet. I have quite a few of both now. Anyway, its fun to mentally decorate. It also doesn't wear me out or hurt my body. LOL. I think I'll start my Village next week in fact. First I have to make room for all those dog statues to safely go on closet shelves for the next two months! Ugh. hugs, Karen...See MoreWhat do you call it?
Comments (73)The Golden Rule huh? Well, I would have others be friendly and wish me a Merry Christmas, or happy whatever holiday they celebrate. So what do I do about that? Great googly moogly. People are so uppity. A genuine holiday greeting is hardly the same or even close to condemning those who don't share your religious beliefs. If it is, as some people are inclined to argue, I better not put up my christmas lights this year. Someone might drive by, see my twinkling icicle lights, and interpret them as a multicolored middle finger to non Christmas celebrators. And my snowman holding the "Merry Christmas " sign might as well be mooning passersby, for all the fuss some people think will be made of it. And as for the nativity scene, well maybe I'll just set it up in the attic, and invite other Christians to creep up there in the dead of night for clandestine Manger meetings. I really dont buy that so many people are offended by a Christmas specific greeting. I think that a handful of REALLY squeaky wheels, who like nothing better than to have something to complain about teamed up with some bleeding heart ,guilt ridden(well intended,no doubt) suck ups to suck the joy out of the holidays. I have yet to meet someone of another faith or even of no faith express offense at a merry Christmas greeting. How's this squeaky? Have some eggnog, and unclench. However, I will agree that while not offensive,it is rather annoying to have sanctimonious bible thumpers condemn all non religious decor or celebrations of Christmas. They, also, need to have some nog and unclench. However, I don't equate wishing someone a Merry Christmas with trying to shove religion down someone's throat. If someone wished me a Happy Hanukkah, my first reaction would be to thank them and reciprocate, not stand in indignation at the the audacity of this....this...JEWISH PERSON,who dares try to degrade my own personal beliefs with their........HANUKKAH greeting! Oh the nerve they must have to greet me with such...such..DIFFERENT beliefs, which have such a HIGH impact on my own self worth, and so cheerfully too. The monster. The insensitive clod. The horror! (insert eye roll here) ETA: (mmmmmmm eggnog. Dang it,now I have to get up and go the the store. I hate when I do that to myself)...See MorePawprint
