advice broken queen palm

quiet new to growing palms, in autumn this year i brought 2 7foot queen palms from a well known nursery, which i planted into a raised garden bed. I was told it was fine to do so at that time of the yr. But i now think that was a big mistake. I live in vic australia and im in a small gully that gets very windy. Over winter and as of late we have had some bad winds. which has broken the fronds on both palms. One has 1 frond left that is only about 1/4 of frond left and the other has 2 fronds both broken about halfway up. My question is are they goners? will they grow new fronds? Also the fronds arnt a clean break they look splintered and very spikey split looking. Should i cut them to a point or a straight edge or leave them? is there anything that i should or shouldnt be doing while there in this horrible state? any advice is much appreciated
