If stacking ovens what height is the top of your steam oven

Finalizing details and I'm thinking of installing steam oven with the top at 63". I'm 5.5 and hubby is 5'8". The single wall oven (either Wolf M series) or Bosch side opening will go under.
What height is your steam oven stacked above single oven?

So you're 65" and the top of the steam oven would be at 63"? That should be fine. Optimal height for an oven is centered to your waist so you can lock your forearms parallel to the floor, where you have a lot of tension and stability, for transferring heavy and awkward pots, etc. Acceptable height is anywhere from centered on hips to centered on shoulders. Your steam oven height sounds centered on your shoulders and in the good zone for your husband.

I had to compromise to get what worked best for me. I'm the oven user, and I do use them, but I couldn't get both in optimal placements. I chose to have the lower oven as high as possible, after I couldn't find the two more inches it would have required to put them side by side (and since the Gaggenaus were designed to be stacked, they would have also looked goofy like that, and I didn't have an option to put them in different spots) because that's what works best for me. The bottom of the combi-steam is at my shoulders, which is potentially dangerous, and for which I'm very careful. There's also an industrial plastic work platform for the height challenged to stand on safely.

I am 64" and the top of my steam oven is 59" . So far it has been the perfect height for me which is good, because I am using it so much more than I ever anticipated.

Agreed on the black. It looks punchy without the silly associations. Greasetrap, yes, I think your wife will like the steam once she learns to use it. Having to deal with the tank does make it less convenient, so part of it depends on how she feels about carrying water (esp. if you're not around to help), attending to appliances, etc. Re tending things in the steam oven, the biggest thing is that you learn not to. If you do need to, you take out the pan, and close the oven. Yes, you let out the steam, but it rebuilds pretty quickly, at least in my Gaggenau. There may be other differences in using the Wolf, as well, but generally things don't need to be stirred, rotated and turned over nearly as much with just convection heat and steam. And one lets the steam do the basting. Results are best in the sheet pans that the oven comes with (and similar). Blanching green beans is dead easy, but I do take the time to lay them out neatly. One or two more that don't fit are okay half on top of others, but basically, I keep them in one flat layer. Same thing with a chicken. If I want to do a whole roast, I remove the spine and flatten it. That way only the inside and backs of legs face down. I also like to elevated it on a bed of root vegetables so it's above the sides of the pan. If I didn't want the veg, I'd use a rolled edge sheet pan instead of a sided one. Being above the pan helps the skin be nice and crispy and the hot air gets to the bottom more easily.

I am putting the bottom of my oven at counter height. That seems to be what gets shown in the literature. I am keeping that height from a standing perspective and one of the reasons I went with this config is to not have anything that low to the floor because of the dogs. I am not sure what ADA would say on the best height - but I would think that trying to not have anything too low or too high is the max age in place flexibility. I worry that moving something too low kinda defeats the purpose of the side swing door.

Stacking Miele combi-steam over regular Wolf 30 inch oven?

The worse installers and product ever. Had whole kitchen installed and they never hooked up the water lines to 3 ovens. They have been back at least 5-6 times and cannot get the combo steam oven working, its been a year and at least 30 phone calls to service, with promise of return and ok to swap out with a new one- 2 months ago- and still now one at Miele will take ownership of this issue and exchange the lemon. Incredibly poor performance for a company that bills themselves as the best product and customer service. Service managers refuse to speak with me, only front line folks (who are very nice). Go with Wolf- I spent $45K on Miele and I regret it ever since the installs 1 yr ago.

I went through the same question some years back. Miele has more features for the $$, so I originally wanted that, but at the time they didn't have a combi/convection steam oven that could take 208V (what I had), so I settled with the Wolf instead. And I must say, I've been really happy with it. It works, it's not fussy. Yes, it doesn't have the color swipey screen the Miele has, but I'm not convinced I miss that all that much. Would I like a broiler? I think so, as it is something I use, but I do have another big oven with the broiler (that unit almost always takes a backseat to the convection steam unit) and I can use that when I'm broiling something, so it's not too bad. I've kept tabs on the Miele, and I've discovered that considering that if you don't get a plumbed unit, the Wolf is more forgiving than the Miele on how much water is in the tank (I'm pretty lazy and never fill it up all the way, and the Wolf lets me still use it as long as I have enough water). If you really want to go into the details about adjusting settings, moisture level, turning on upper element broiler, you'll want the Miele, but if you just want to use it, I think you'd like the Wolf. I certainly don't regret having to "settle" for it at all.

I am 60" and our drawings show the top of the oven at 59". That may be just a tad higher than optimal for me but I had to make some compromises to fit things in. There will be a regular oven below it.

Thanks everyone! I lucked out and was able to see at Pirch it installed at exact height I was considering! 63" is great and I can even get up to 65" so bottom oven will sit a little higher.

What did y’all decide to do? I’m 64” tall and my steam oven over wall oven will sit 66” on top if I put it at the height I want (there are bottom drawers all along the oven wall that I wanted to keep the same height). Is that going to be too high? I imagine it is similar height as a traditional micro over stove (prob not even that high). So whatever I put in it will prob be eye level? Thoughts?
