Comments (3)Start by priming the gold walls with white or gray primer. The gold reflections will distort the colors of new paint samples. Then change the odd-looking light bulbs to whatever LEDs you are going to use. Paint a foamcore board with the Kilim Beige, then hold it up next to the countertops. The new paint needs to coordinate with the countertops, the flooring and the cabinets. One shade lighter than Kilim Beige on the same color card is worth a good long look. Since the countertops are beige, too, they are likely to be the driver here. Cara Lewis-Watt's pale greens can be sampled on the same foamcore board. Both the SW and BM "Sea Salt" colors are quite versatile. That'd get you out of having to identify the "perfect" off white/beige that goes well with everything else....See MoreWant a lighter shade of Accessible Beige by Sherwood Williams
Comments (2)When I made color selections for the walls in our new house, I really wanted an off white, but it was not an option. I chose Accessible Beige as it was the lightest beige that our builder offered. Our trim, doors and ceilings are painted Extra White, and our cabinetry is white which looks beautiful with it and provides nice contrast. As with any color, AB will look different in various rooms depending on the room's exposure, amount of light it gets and the colors you put with it. I love AB in the east and south rooms of our house. However, in one west bedroom with one small window, one bedroom on the north side of our house, and one hallway with no windows, it is a little dark for my preferences, even though I am decorating with light neutrals and whites. I am thinking of either re-painting those rooms Aesthetic White, which is a much lighter version of AB, or perhaps leaving an accent wall in AB and painting the remaining walls in some version of off white. I have not tried the 25% or 50% lightening, but I hope this helps with some other options....See MoreKitchen Cabinet paint - Sherwin Williams Malabar or Balanced Beige?
Comments (5)Thanks much for the input received so far! To Patricia - I should elaborate that we identified the island stain first because we have honey oak trim and acacia flooring which has SO much color and movement that we didn't want to overwhelm the space. So, we chose dark stain for island that would pull similar color from the flooring without risking a "clash" in colors. We then chose the countertop (Ironsbridge) which has muted look but multiple tones allowing for white, cream, grey, or dark cabinets. My hope was that we could choose perimeter cabinetry (painted) now and wall colors last. I had been thinking about a mushroom/taupe color for warmth, but worry that such a color will look drab or dingy. So, wondering if a "very warm white" would be better option? Input appreciated!...See MoreNeed sherwin Williams paint color for kitchen/family room and dining
Comments (11)Thank you all. I pretty much feel like the kitchen elements are dictating the show because I am not changing them anytime soon. The kitchen shares a wall with the family room so the color has to satisfy both. I should have mentioned that in my first post. I have natural linen being painted from the upstairs hallway and foyer area and so far that color looks awesome. However I am Leary that this color will be too light for this room. We have 9 ft ceilings and very bright late afternoon sunshine in the family room. Its very dark any other time. I am partial to beige and taupes. Would those colors work here? And for those who have strong opinions about the rug. Would you go light or dark?...See More- 11 years ago
