The Pennsylvania Leatherwing Beetle, a good garden friend. Seeing very few of them this year. Casey, love that blue-eyed grass. It is one of those little things in nature that very few people notice. It grew in a few places around the yard at our Ohio home some 40 years ago. Haven't seen it since then.

A cousin recently bought this cast-iron coin bank for my wife.You put the coin in the horses mouth, press the lever and the horse springs over the jump. The coin flies out of its mouth, bounces off the fence, and falls into the hole. My wife saw it and said, The horse is hanging its legs. The rider is hanging on the horse's mouth and her leg is too far back, and after the horse "jumps" the jump the rider looks like she is about to fly right over the horses head and crash into the fence for a possibly fatal injury.

Petalique asked for a picture of my pup, and I'm only too happy to oblige. (Hope I haven't posted this one before.) I inquired here about the breed 7 years ago, and Chisue, who had a Westie at the time, encouraged my family to get this breed. Oski perches on the sofa back like a cat. He has been a joy to our family, through thick and thin. (He's named for UC Berkeley's mascot, the bear Oski.)
