Comments (30)Has your son ever tried these mice? They are terrific, espeically the side buttons, flipping back through websites is nothing for me. My scroll bar is so fast even at 800 DPI...its unubelievable...and when I forget to put it in the charger...do I ever hate using the corded mouse until it recharges...everthing is just so easy even for mundane everyday web-browsing. As far as the dents in the MX518...that's where your fingers go and it allows a plyable left and right clicking, its like a mylar type of thing...he doesn't want any dents or lights? Low battery indicator is out? I wish that other MX1000 owner was still here...I've never make a mistake with the side buttons. In the beginning, I hit them a few times by mistake...its called learning, but not once in the last year and a half. Every time my cousin comes over here to play a game, and I tell him to left click ...he always clicks the wheel...he keeps looking for lines to tell him where right and left are. Then he gets used to the idea there are no visible left or right clicking lines, its the entire left or entire right side of the mouse whereever your fingers are comfortable. As far as the lights...they are LED lights and barely noticeable. That one poster said on the MX610 you can turn off the mail indicator ... they are like pinpricks of light...I forget to look at my battery indicators They are not that visible.. The Diamondback Plasma they are more visible...its an art thing and because they are LED they don't use much, if any, extra electricity. Why is your son insisting on archaic mice? Have you watched the little movie presentation? On the link below click on "Product Tour". You can turn features on or off with the software. The hardest thing to get used to is the size. They are larger, they require a bigger mouse pad, and lasers do better on flat light colored surfaces...but lasers will track fairly accurately on any surface. Are they ever sensitive to the slightest movement...but you get used to it...real quick. Instead of wide swings its a flick of your wrist. And believe it or not you even get used to holding the mouse without ever touching the buttons. The only drawback is the 2.4Ghz frequency and wireless routing...the one poster said even with that there was no interference with the mouse's performance...If you don't have a wireless router ...it might be a blast to learn with. Comments (20)I had a few minutes before my helper got here for day two of the Paul Bunyan adventure so I went to Amazon and looked at their offerings. I agree, I don't think I would purchase a mouse without seeing/testing it physically for feel and comfort, but it was a one-stop look-see. Hopefully this is the last question as I feel lazy in not researching this myself. I just don't have the time right now and the old mouse is "circling in the bowl". I would hate to transfer a ten year old two-button mouse from the garage system onto this system. Their seems to be an extensive price range, $12.00 to $99.00. My thoughts are to stay around $30.00 or less. Am I on the right track? I have plenty of rechargeable batteries around so that will not be a concern. Cat, You missed out. In May the chainsaw and I were down your way doing our thing at my son's. If I had known I would have stopped by. I will be down again in three weeks as we have some more work to do inside. We are finally going to put up the shelves and install the doors on the walk-in closet I built in their master bedroom when he had his back surgery. Plus, a few other things. Comments (8)The CD Should open from computer, click start, click Computer, when that opens double click on the CDROM Drive, if it does not open from there then most likely a problem with CD or drive. If you are on Windows XP or Windows Vista and want to enable AutoRun once again, download this tool available from Microsoft's website. That way the cd will play when you insert it (If the CD is any good) instead of going to computer and double clicking the CDROM Drive In case you were wondering why, Microsoft decided to disable automatic execution of files via AutoRun or AutoPlay because of malware that has been targeting such methods. Click the link I provided, then save it to the desktop, once there double click it and RUN it. Here is a link that might be useful: enable AutoRun...See MoreBuying new computer with Windows 8
Comments (9)Over the past few months I've tried several Wiin 8 and 8.1 laptops, so my experience is limited. I'd suggest, for a desktop replacement, that you read some of the online reviews of the all in one desktop replacements that have a touchcreen. Many have excellent reviews, and they look really nice to boot. There's several with telescoping/pivoting screens that make it more convenient to go from desktop use to pure touchscreen/tablet type use. If you can, get something with Win 8.1 already installed. The download of an 8.1 upgrade is very big, in one big file. On our cable broadband it was a long download. Id also suggest, before you buy, if possible spend some time playing with Internet Explorer on different brands. IE seems to be optimized in slightly different ways between brands. IE was pretty wonderful using touch on high resolution screens, just ok on others. I didn't notice performance differences, if any, between the I5 and I7 machines. I've read the I7 would be better if you do a lot of graphics or other intensive computing tasks. Just my 2 cents......See More- 9 years ago
