Comments (6)Hi Bonnie, Went out to get my vigna to take an updated picture, but the batteries on my camera are low, rats! Here's a picture from before so hopefully you will be able to see that the leaves look different than your two plants. The leaves on the vigna are sort of thin, not thick, and the stems are smooth, green and very flexible. Also, noted the each 'branch' has a grouping of three leaves. Hard to explain and when my batteries are charged, I can sent you a picture if you like....See MoreHi again Nora
Comments (2)Gabby, So good to hear from you. Sounds like you are and have been busy....thought when your kids were all grown that things slowed down....LOL...not so. We are doing o.k.....I still go down...like you do....and I miss Mom so much....had a good cry yesterday...Dad and I....been on the phone many times about Social Security Death Benifit...well the funeral home handles that...anyway...SS messed up...finally got it taken care of...it was important to my Dad....told me yesterday that it was Mom's money and she would have wanted me and my sister to have it....my sweet Dad...always giving....we both just sat there and had a good cry. Going to be hard this Christmas...always loved buying for Mom...will miss that beautiful smile you got when you helped her open her gifts. Mom and Dad always gave each of the grandaughters and great grandkids an ornament with money...I took over after Mom couldn't....this year I bought clear ornaments and I am putting Mom and Dad's wedding picture in it. Trying to get ready....think it is great that you are keeping the tradition of Lara's fruit cakes...it is important that we keep them going and pass them on. Yes I enjoy my 8 hours....and the money...not alot...but it is my mad money!!LOL Will be keeping you in my thoughts and prayers...my cousin is having it done today....I am sure all will be o.k...let us know as soon as you can. Will be checking in and hope that we can keep in touch....don't get on the puter as much as I did...my daughter is on alot with her college work. Take care and again prayers are being lifted for you. Comments (17)Kate--when I read your bathroom knob post the other night about how you are feeling, I thought you were almost describing me! Anyway, I have 2 kids--5 y.o. and 16 m.o. No more coming. I like the idea of the shoes going under a bench. I live in rainy Washington so shoes are usually wet and have fir needles stuck to them. The idea of baskets sounds romantic somehow, but I'm also not sure exactly how you use them. I think cubbies might be better for gloves and hats. I could see the configuration either way you listed. I'm not sure I need a bench across that whole 5.5' though. Lavender--Sorry for your root canal! Heal up, buttercup. I took it as helpful. The laundry room IS existing in the exact configuration shown in my drawings. IT IS STAYING!! Sorry!! Rhome is right. The toilet and sink in there are used for potty trips while working in the gardens and for us when the other bathroom is being used. There is a full bath down the hall from the front door for guests to use. It was just too far to tromp a dirty body through the house when we are working outside so we added the toilet in the laundry room. A side benefit of adding the mudroom (necessary for the coats, shoes, etc) was that it would give a bit of a buffer from the laundry/toilet/catbox room. Fourkids--I know what you mean about the area being seen from the dining room. That's why I wanted to door it off. But a full wall down the length of the living room side and a door are IMPOSSIBLE given the skylights. I think this is as good as I can get given those restrictions. The other alternative is a hall-tree facing into the living room which would be a visual nightmare with shoes creeping their way across the living room floor. If you come up with something else, please give me a shout! Thank you!...See MoreO/T So shocked and sad, sad
Comments (55)My sympathies for this heartbreaking turn, Nik, and I am glad you are seeking another love. Sissy was beautiful, as is Lara -- I think gold-colored dogs are especially beautiful. Funny about the "wrong color". My late uncle, Bob Zimmerman, among the last of the true cowboys, was renowned for his line of "yellow" McNabs. McNabs are a local (originating at the McNab Ranch) lineage of Scotch collies that are usually black and white, but he got a gold-colored one in one batch of pups ("Gyp"), who went on to father offspring where the occasional pup was that color, too (recessive mutation, I suppose). Gyp was an exceptionally good herder, who won sheepdog trials at the county fair, as were many of his yellow offspring, so rather than being shunned, the yellow pups were highly desired by local ranchers. They seemed to consider them a sure bet for a good dog, as well as being of that relatively rare and novel color that lent prestige. But, as Camps points out, not so practical, considering that most of lower-elevation California is the same color as these dogs in the summer and fall -- Gyp, son Teddy, and grandson Rowdy (the ones I knew best) were hardly visible at a distance, at all, on the range....See Morenikthegreek
