Good to hear that it is over and that you are back home. There's no place like it. Good to hear you have a wonderful caregiver. It will be a while before you feel up to par, so just be patient and take it easy. Best wishes for a speedy recovery.

Glad you're home. I've just been talking with friends about pacemakers and my one friend was telling me about her aunt who at age 90 was told she needed one but didn't want to do it. They talked her into it at age 92 and it changed the quality of her life unbelievably. She lived to be 98. Hopefully you will see a great improvement, too.

Hi, Susie. So glad to know you are home and that you now have the pacemaker. You have been through a lot recently and now it is time to relax and take care of yourself. In the meantime, I saw my doc on Monday and they have decided, based on the monitor readings, that I definitely need a pacemaker. It seems my heart is beating too slow. I am actually not even aware that it beats at all. I need to make a decision soon and get back with them to set up a time. I think it would be foolish not to have it, so I have decided to go with it. One day in the hospital and then home, so I guess it won't be too bad. Sorry you are having pain and hope that is just temporary. Be good to yourself, and let Larry take care of everything!

JoAnn_Fla, I know many people that after the surgery site has healed have no pain from the pacemaker itself. My mom was thin and bony in that area, and complained about it hurting for years after it was put in. But it might also have been something that her mind grabbed hold of to complain about. She has alzheimer's and looking back, it started before she had it put in, and with her, it has been a litany of complaints, continuously. That is just the way the desease has worked on her. Now, she can't even complain. She is sleeping almost continuously, and not eating or drinking, except for tiny tiny amounts. We won't have her much longer. Having said all that about mom, I think that it's possible that the device might be too big for a small person, and cause some pain, but I don't know. I'm not sure how long ago mom's was put in, but at least 5 years ago. They are probably improved so much by now, and made smaller, that it wouldn't be a problem.

Good news! Glad that that's over, and you'll be feeling perky in no time.
