leaving meyer lemon tree outside in pot in winter
Comments (2)If it is young, it is OK at least down to 28 deg. Once it is well established it should be capable of surviving 15 deg weather, with a little set back of course. I have one that bears well in a pot on my patio and i only take it in if the temperature is expected to drop below 20 deg....See MoreShould I leave my Lamb's Ear alone over the winter?
Comments (6)I just leave mine alone because I do very little garden clean up in the fall. In the spring, you can rake the dead leaves away. You might have to cut some areas but you'll see new growth coming up. That should be your goal. Get the old leaves cleaned up before raking will do much damage to the new growth....See MoreShould I leave my redbud tree as multi-stemmed or trim to standard?
Comments (8)Not trying to disagree with hairmetal4ever, but my father-in-law has a Cercis 'Forest Pansy' that survived -20 with flying colors last winter with no snow cover at the end of February. We also had near record cold mid-November until early December. Have witnessed numerous redbuds (different cultivars, etc..) that all behave with no rhyme or reason as to winter survival. We stopped planting them regularly due to their inconsistency. Your particular redbud rootstock may not be hardy either. Best case scenario it will survive and you can have a neat, multi-stem redbud in the future!...See Moreplant has leaves should I put it outside?
Comments (13)go figure.. there is a fig forum .... i have no clue how active it is ... after the stress of all this.. im wondering if you might not be better off keeping it potted for this summer ... and either planting it in fall ... or next spring ... I DONT KNOW ... im thinking.. if there is extreme stress in shipping and keeping it indoors .. when it barely gets over that ... you will want to bare root it.. and plant it .. fully leafed out .. which is another severe stress .. etc ... maybe its different with figs ... whats its current status regarding pot ... i might also heal it into a larger pot.. if its in some tiny little greenhouse pot .... how about a pic ... trees need a drink.. and then near drying before the next sip ... do NOT water it like a water loving houseplant ... unless you repot it ... but even then... ken...See Moreparker25mv
