Vegas, organic gardening is certainly not a crock and luckily, many hundreds of thousands of growers are willing to go the extra mile to produce organic fruits and vegetables. You should know, though, that you will have to study up on the nutritional requirements of citrus in general...and figure out how to provide them,organically, within the confines of a container. You are going to have to provide everything that your plant needs; citrus have some specific micro-nutrient requirements. I see nothing in the Jobe's product that disturbs me too much, though it does not have micro-nutrients, also called miner elements. Fish emulsion could assist in providing some key elements, when used in conjunction with your Jobe's. HOWEVER! It really isn't intended for container culture. There are no directions that I see on the label as to dose and frequency. Another aspect that is troublesome is that I can see how repeated use of this product would muddy up your potting mix....fill the so important pore spaces with fine particles. If you were looking for a product with a high Nitrogen analysis, you'll have to go with something other than your 'organic' products. Lots of container hobbyists resort to the commercial soluble fertilizers, while still using using organic methods for the rest of the plant care. I'm not saying that you should, but just be aware that you will have to keep up with the fert. in order to provide your citrus with what it needs. Another factor in the yellowing 'may' be the potting medium. Again, container culture is entirely different that growing in situ. Garden soil or compost added to a perfect good potting medium can result in a mucky, slow-to-drain mixture. Roots can function in that kind of environment, which is why we have learned to provide a potting mix that remains coarse textured and porous. I may not be the only one that would love to see you re-pot your plant entirely. I'd also like to warn you that moisture meters are notoriously inaccurate. Most of us have learned to rely on the most sophisticated digital equipment we have....our fingers. ;-)

Howdy Nellie. Since you're in Tn, your Meyer and Cal will have to come indoors during winter. Calamondin are bitter tasting. The fruit is mainly used to make jelly/marmalade. Are your citrus outdoors now? If so, keep them outside until temps are in the 50's. Some people leave out till temps dip to 40F, but IMO, that's a tad too cold for a citrus to adjust, especially after bringing in a warm/hot house. It's a shock to plants, more chance of leaf drop. Place citrus in the brightest south or west window. Keep away from a heating source, like vent. Keep soil on the dry side during gray days..In other words, water thoroughly, but don't water again until soil is dry. If your Meyer is in too large a pot, and you didn't use well-draining soil, this 'may' cause problems, including root rot. How much larger is the new pot from the old? If you used a well-draining soil, there's less chance of overwatering. Once the air in your home turns dry, invest in a humidifer. Daily mistings and weekly showering (in tub or sink) works magic. Withhold fertilizert until days lenghten or you see new growth. That's about it. There are many reason leaves yellow..over and underwatering, insects, and deficiency are a few. Whenever a new plant is purchased, it should be inspected for insects, so give it a look-see. Over and under leaves, between stems, in soil. Do you know what to look for? BTW, remove yellow leaves. Meyer lemon will grow fine in Iowa - just not outdoors in winter :-) Meyer lemons (which are actually hardier/more cold tolerant than a 'true' lemon) are an extremely popular houseplant in areas of the country where they can't be grown outdoors. Most folks who grow them in this manner - obviously in a container - have them outside during the warm months of the year and bring them indoors during the colder, winter months. And they will routinely produce fruit!! Meyers will tolerate a light frost but I'd avoid exposing them to temps below around 40F, especially when container grown. They need a period of transition before the transfer from indoors to out and back again, typically a somewhat general acclimation to the change in environment of a few days. Indoors they need bright but indirect light. You will find many discussions about growing Meyers indoors on both the Container Gardening and the House Plants forums. Same for growing Ficus benjimina or patio fig trees - another extremely commonly grown houseplant that is a popular landscape plant in CA FWIW, many folks also grow avocados as house plants but unfortunately these are highly unlikely to produce fruit.

Your tree will take it's time coming back after who knows what it went through, or will start putting on new growth as soon as tomorrow. I don't understand why you waited this long to put your tree outside? Why may I ask you? Mines just limp along in the dead of winter and barely hang on by spring, and would drop all their leaves of I waited this long. I would rather give them tons of sunlight and cooler temps, what I mean is no lower than the low 40's.Less stress, believe me on my trees and myself. f I held them hostage inside longer than 5 months they would do poorly, unless of course if mine were in warmth and full sun in a greenhouse. Did you ever tell us where you live? What zone you are? It's also hard to be positive with you in saying with confidence that it will do fine when no one knows or will ever know exactly the care you give it all year long, especially in doors. What we can say is that a good watering regimen, a good quality mix and a good quality fertilizer with the right pH will do wonders for any citrus grower and their potted trees) Mike)
