Sink with ledges like Kohler Stages
Comments (3)I did think about a positive reveal. I guess I would have to find the colander and cutting board dimensions to match the positive reveal on the sink. The Ticor sinks look interesting and they come with the accessories. I did find a Ruvati sink and Oliveri sink that might work. I have always had double sinks. Last one had one extra large bowl, but it was still hard to wash oversized pots, etc. I think I might like a stainless steel sink with one large bowl and a drainboard. I know I could use a small tub to wash dishes. I have about 48" of space under the window. But I hate to waste all 48" with under sink storage...The black hole of any kitchen. I also thought I could put drawers under the sink instead of cabinet doors. But then there is the problem of pipes being in the way. So what are your thoughts about cabinet drawers under a sink, a double sink with drainboard, etc.? Thanks, Peke...See Morekohler high end sinks and faucets
Comments (39)Nope, no complaints about drain placement---and I say that as someone who actually did think we wanted a rear drain when I started looking at sinks. (The only options with rear drains didn't work out for other reasons.) The stream of our faucet hits just about dead even in the center of the drain, but that's 100% coincidental---both the sink placement and the wall-mount faucet placement were dictated by established elements (sink centered on two windows in room, placement of plumbing pre-existing and not possible to move b/c of studs). Our faucet does swivel, though (as do most I think?) and can easily reach the dish tub and strainer we often put in the sink on one side or the other without impeding the drain. The Kohler Cape Dory cutting board is indeed beveled to hug the shape of the sink. My issue with it is not the board itself (beautiful quality and made in USA which was a pleasant surprise, and where I live there's no way you could get one for any less by having it custom made---the Kohler one was only $35 or so) but the fact that it sits lower than the counter surface, which isn't super comfortable to cut on ergonomically. However, I think (?) the sink can be either undermounted or self-rimming, so that may explain why. Regardless, I wouldn't bother with this accessory....See MoreStainless steel sink vs. enamel
Comments (23)I just wanted to clarify a comment that Suzannes1 said above, "Silgranite would be worth investigating, although I don't prefer a dark colored sink". Please note that Silgranit comes in a number of colors including white and biscuit. See my link above to a Silgranit sink in the color biscuit which is a creamy and softer white than their "white". I think it may seem that Silgranit only is dark because so many people on this forum have chosen one of the dark Silgranit colors like Anthracite or Cafe Brown. That's because those colors show nothing, even if you spill red wine or spaghetti sauce, and also cause the dark color can look real sharp against granite. Our anthracite sink looks great with our Alaska White granite, and it seems to make the polished chrome of our professional-style faucet gleam more in contrast. Still no comment on the choice of a 3-bowl sink?...See MoreI hate my Kohler Stages sink. Learn from my mistake
Comments (56)I don’t think the Stages comes with a colander, at least it didn’t when I got it. It does come with a large wood cutting board, large white tray/cutting board, small tray/cutting board, 6 ceramic prep bowls, bottom sink grid, and under counter rack. The prep bowls are well designed to both stack and be reversible, although I mostly use them with the larger size up. I like the square design because it’s easy to use a wood spatula to scrape out the contents. The bottom grid hasn’t been a problem for me. You do have to lift it up or take it out to clean the sink, but that outweighs the advantages of being able to set things on it to drain and the fact that it protects the bottom of the sink from scratches. I do wish it was in two pieces so it would more easily fit in my dishwasher. It is so big that I have angle it to get it in and it’s hard to load other items around it....See MoreJoseph Corlett, LLC
