I've enjoyed this thread so much. (Well, except for all those 'annoying' football comments. I mean really, let's get the over hyped Super Bowl out of the way so we can get on to the real sport...BASEBALL! Go Rangers! lol Auntjen, we are neighbors as I, too, live in the same county as Jerry World.) ahem...back to decorating. I'm a new real estate agent and one of my fascinations is seeing the inside of people's homes. I held an open house this weekend at a charming home. Talk about beautifully decorated! I so wish I could have taken photos just to show you guys the decor. (The RE photos don't show the decor like I'd like to show y'all.) After two hours of 'living' in the home, I was ready to go back to my more rumpled and comfortable home. lol I know the owners have 'staged' the home to be very, very nice looking and they are getting the right kinds of comments. I just know that for me and mine...we go for that 'creative' look. lol My goal, an ongoing, ever-ellusive goal, is to create a warm, inviting, and comfortable place to live that still delights my eye and artistic sense. That's possible, not perfect...and when it comes together, it is PERFECT. ;0)

The sliding cabinet door is too obvious so I would think that would not be it. It does look as if both units move. There is space at the bottom of them. They also look quite heavy! The one on the right looks as if it could be a murphy bed but also looks like it would open into a passage way. Maybe the sliding cabinet door opens a bar and then the side unit is a door to the wine cellar/liquor closet. That recessed corner space is housing something.

These aren't that rare in some places. About 15 years ago, we were on a driving vacation in Europe. The car rental co. had upgraded us to a Mercedes. which was fine with me. At one medium-sized hotel in an urban center in Germany we had reserved, there was a small driveway I pulled into to register. I asked "Where is the car park?" and was told "just pull forward into the opening, the elevator will take you down to the garage". I'm thinking, what? The "opening" was like a very tight garage portal into the building. I inspected it first- it allowed about 6 inches of leeway for each side and front/back for the car I had. Sweat streaming down my face, I pulled in carefully (which a lot of backs and forths), rolled the window down to push the down button, and took the ride down. After the platform stopped and I backed out, I found myself in a large underground lot with parking for >40 cars. And yes, the only access was this tiny elevator. We stayed there nearly a week, and I had at least one in and out each day. I got more comfortable with practice but the first time was really stressful.

Well, DD just got off work and she OK'd the bronze bin pulls above, so I've just ordered them. And, she wants the aqua runner instead of the coral, so I've ordered that, too. We can decide next on antiquing or adding Rub-N-Buff to the paint. She won't let me make that decision on my own, which is ok.
